LinkGlad we're gonna have Muhammed Mali-Buha-Shmad-al jijha on US soil now. I think he and any others responsible for 9/11 definitely deserve a fair trial. Glad he took some time with this decision.

This is far from a surprise. Expect more decisions to be made that are detrimental to our safety with little consideration for the American people.
At least we have a black President right? That was the most important thing in this election was it not?

At least we have a black President right? That was the most important thing in this election was it not? For most of the black population, that was the goal whether you choose to believe it or not. Ask a ton of black people what some of his policies are, and I bet they can't tell you. I bet they could tell you however, how cool and hip he is and how he listens to (insert hip hop artist here). Obama won a popularity contest, not because people were willing to listen to his issues. McCain was put back simply because he did not listen to rap music.

And Obama won the election because he listens to rap music? Does that explain why he won Indiana?
I don't mind people voicing their opinions. I just mind when people are factually wrong or make ridiculous assumptions and generalizations. Remember that in your response.

This whole basis of how he got elected is pretty much the most asinine thing I've ever read out your way spartan.

Barack Obama becoming President will inspire many. The notion that the black man is not a good father will be broken in part because of him. Young black youths now know that success isn't limited to stuffy white guys.
Also, I would imagine these men will be under tight security here on U.S. soil. If these guys wanted to organize a terrorist attack from behind bars they would have, does not matter if they are on U.S. soil or not. A move like this helps the U.S. image.

Spartan, have you ever met anyone who was Muslim? Just wondering, you seem like an overwhelming bigot. Detainees at Guantanamo have continually been released because there is simply no evidence for them to be detained in the first place. They are not closing it down tomorrow and sending them all to the streets, we'll prosecute the ones we have cases against, and send the others back to their own country's to be tried there. This has been a decision people on the rational side of the bubble have been discussing for a lot longer than the past two days. Even Senator McCain was for closing Guantanamo.

A move like this helps the U.S. image. Spot on Freak. We dont want to be a country that stoops down to the terrorists level and tourtues people for information. And yea. McCain wanted Gitmo closed as well. And it's not like the prison will close in a month or somethin. It'll take a full year.

No he definitely is, my only point with saying that was that it was such a big factor for so many people that he was black. Everything was because he was black, you know, there was little said about him without mention of him being black. It was often made to be the most important thing in the election, that and his cool factor, rather than the things that really were important. That's all I really meant by the mention of the black thing with the election.

He being Black only added to the idea that he was going to go in and change things. People didn't vote for him because he was black for the most part, but because they didn't want another old white man with the same tired outlook in the white house.

I didn't say he won because of that (though it certainly helped, you can't deny that), everything leading up to the election was just made into a big deal over other important things about him and McCain. Same can be said for Palin being a woman and woopdiefriggin doo.

Same can be said for Palin being a woman and woopdiefriggin doo. The color of his skin only helped so far as it made him into a bigger story. As many extra votes that he got from blacks he lost in whites. It didn't help as much as you think, and I would still be willing to argue it hurt him. I don't think it did, I think it was a net equal, but I'd be quicker to argue that than the other way around. Then again, I live in the south, and racism is still alive and well here. It's not open like it use to be and isn't quite as violent, but it is still certainly there. I promise, he lost a lot of votes with "southern democrats" at least as many as he gained in the black belt. Obama won because of what I said in the original post.

Yeah, as someone who canvassed a hell of a lot for the campaign, Obama did not benefit from being black in ANY of the primaries, and even in New Hampshire, where he had been campaigning for two years non-stop and the voter ID was so well done, with a week left we were still running in to tons of loyal Dems who weren't to sure about "the Osama guy".
It helped probably in Georgia, because it really changed the makeup of that electorate, but elsewhere, I really couldn't point to an area where it helped.
