((I know very few people read these anymore. I'm honestly doing this more as a stat-tracking exercise than anything else.))
Anyway, the outline. Fun fact - Stephen Curry had several other scholarship offers aside from Davidson. The most notable, however, was from Virginia Commonwealth. This, of course, got my mind going, and the thought of an Eric Maynor/Stephen Curry backcourt was simply too staggeringly awesome. Using NCAA Basketball 09 (damn you, EA) I'll roll through at least one year of this. To balance roster numbers, we'll put VCU's T.J. Gwynn on Davidson.
Work on this will probably begin in earnest on Monday because I want to watch the games today. In the meantime, feel free to imagine the nightmare that a Maynor/Curry backcourt with Larry Sanders down low would unleash upon even the best of opponents.

Just messed with the rosters and played an exhibition game, beat UCLA 69-65 in OT at Pauley. I still need to mess with sliders.
That said, it was ridiculously fun to play with that backcourt.

Is this game any good DB? I played the demo and thought it was meh but if i find it for super cheap, I might just pick it up.

It's not horrible if you get a set of good, rerated rosters and decent sliders (both of which I got over at OS) - if you do that, it plays pretty realistically, although 2k8 it isn't.
If you can get it for cheap, go for it, but don't go out spending $50-$60 on it.

I think this game hates me. When I hold the other guys below 50% shooting, I shoot 30%. When I shoot around 50%, they shoot 60%.

((Fuck this game. Every time they need a stop/rebound/big shot, the CPU gets it no matter what I do right.))
VCU Falters Late Against West Virginia -
West Virginia won a 76-68 dogfight over Virginia Commonwealth, despite a 28 point effort from Stephen Curry.
The score was within 3 points either way for much of the second half - however, VCU went cold with about 4 minutes to go. While Curry hit two threes in the last two minutes, it was not enough to pull out a victory.
West Virginia's balanced attack featured 12 points each from guards Joe Mazzulla and Jonnie West, with 11 from DaSean Butler and 10 each from center Devin Ebanks and guard Alex Ruoff.
VCU's Eric Maynor posted a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
VCU's 12 turnovers were a key factor in their loss, with 8 of them coming in the second half. West Virginia also shot 63% from three-point range.

Wake 75, VCU 65. I don't feel like writing about it, other than I turned the ball over 15 times because apparently at around the 10 minute mark of the second half I'm no longer allowed to pass the ball to my own teammates.

Late VCU Run Sinks Kansas
The Virginia Commonwealth Rams have been falling apart late in close games all year. They almost did the same against the defending national champions - but this time, they overcame the odds.
Falling behind 67-62 with two minutes to go, VCU staged a furious comeback with a 7-0 run capped by a contested three by Stephen Curry with 45 seconds left to put the Rams ahead 69-67. The VCU defense stripped Kansas of the ball on the ensuing possession and the Rams made their late free throws, beating the Jayhawks 73-71 in their first home game of the year.
VCU led 49-36 at one point in the second half, but the Jayhawks stormed back, and a 7-0 run put them ahead 67-62. It was then that Eric Maynor and Curry took over, as VCU forced several turnovers.
Curry, who finished with 21 points on the game, rose above Kansas's Tyshawn Taylor to drain the three from the right wing on what was a make-or-break possession for the Rams. He also added 8 assists.
Maynor led the Rams with 25 points on 10/12 shooting, including two late free throws that all but sealed the victory.
Marcus Morris led Kansas with 17 points, while guard Sherron Collins had 16 before fouling out with ten seconds to go. Center Cole Aldrich posted a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds.
((Beautiful shot. Typical Curry. Great game.))

VCU Rolls Past American in NIT Opener, 80-69
The VCU Rams cruised past the American Eagles by 11 in the opening round of the Preseason NIT.
Eric Maynor led the Rams with 16 points, while Stephen Curry had 14. Larry Sanders posted a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
American kept it close throughout, spurred in the early second half by a defensive strategy involving a whirlwind of traps and double teams, which rattled Maynor into several turnovers. The game was sloppily played on both sides, as VCU turned the ball over 18 times to American's 15. However, VCU shot a scorching 58% from the field - enough to win the game.
The Rams advance to face Belmont in the next round.
(Comeback AI out in full force. Guh.))
