Honestly, I dont remember the last time I saw a comedy that had me laughing so hard that tears were flowing down my eyes.

I just saw it. If you've seen the extended trailer, you've pretty much have seen the movie. First off, the acting was good in my opinion. Bradley Cooper was really interesting. I've seen him in a few other films but this was some of his best work. Zach Galifianakis was good as well. The role of Alan fit him well, very well. It didn't seem too far fetched from his regular comedy work. Ed Helms was one of the actors going in who I thought was going to be bad, however he was pretty good. Although there may have been better choices, I felt he fit the role fairly well and the job was well above acceptable. The cameo of Mike Tyson was not really needed, which leaves the viewer asking why? Really, do we need to hear his poor speech and put up with his terrible acting? The comedy was kind of hit and miss at times, but overall I think the jokes worked well. Whether it was the little punch lines or the antics of any of the main characters, the laughs were there (at least for some in the audience). At times, it did get kind of old and even predictable. However, the jokes were overall fine. The bumps in the road were not huge. The story line was predictable and frankly hard to enjoy. The trailer gave away so much in the film. There are many moments when you see somebody appear, and you know exactly where the film will be in the following scene. A big part of comedy is surprise and that was definitely missing here. Also, the plot of trying to piece together the night before was not well enacted. It seemed less like an experience and more just like a boring story. It is when you have two friends telling of a past experience and you are left out. In today's cinema, films don't usually leave us out. I am not saying that is a bad thing, but in a comedy film of this nature, it truly hurts the experience. Also, the characters found that something happen. You get a chuckle out of that. That is where it ends. If we would have more insight into how they got into that situation, more laughs would have ensued. Overall, I found the jokes fairly worthy, but the comedy was enhanced by the acting performances of Cooper, Helms, and Galifianakis. The story easily could have went without the Tyson cameo, still trying to figure why that was even there to begin with. However, that is where the flaws of the film are; the story. The feeling of an outsider in a film of this nature is not that great of an experience. Would I recommend it? Not in the theater. Save your money. Was it a bad film? Not totally. However, last summer's Pineapple Express was a much better film. The crew behind The Hangover can take a lesson from them, combining comedy elements with a stronger plot for the sequel.

Why do people analyze comedy flicks like this in the way they would an Oscar contender? Just take it for what it's worth--a funny movie with some predictable jokes and situations.

It was more predictable than it should have been, which made it less enjoyable. Other comedy films of recent have not been as predictable as this. The jokes were funny but some substance along with it all would have made the film better.

People who over-analyze films comedy films ruin them. Trailer ruined it for you? Movie was predictable because trailer gave away things? How bout this, don't watch the trailer. "But I don't wanna waste my money on a bad movie", cmon, it's 7-8 bucks.
I haven't laughed from beginning to end in a movie in a long time. I actually preferred this movie over Pineapple Express, but that's because I don't think Seth Rogan is that funny.
As far as Mike Tyson goes, I doubt they cast him to be "Best Actor" freak. He's in the movie for the surprise factor. When I watched this film, I wasn't thinking "Wow, that Mike Tyson is a terrible actor". I also wasn't sitting there thinking, "Wow, I really wish I was included in this story, I feel left out".
You over-analyzed this film way too much. Next time you go to a comedy movie, relax. Enjoy it for what it's worth like JTR said.

Well frankly, call me old fashioned, but I like to have a general idea of what a film is about before going to see it. You know, to determine if it is worth my time and money. It's not a ton of money, but you could put your money to better films. Frankly, I don't feel like wasting money on movie tickets to see poor films when I could put that money to a more enjoyable experience. Back to the trailer, I don't just like to see a film simply because everybody else is going to see it. This trailer though told way too much. I would give examples but I don't want to spoil those parts for people who are still awaiting to see it.
As for Tyson, I could see the surprise factor. There is a problem though, there is no surprise! Almost every preview for this film shows Tyson in it. Where is the surprise then? It is gone. Non-existent.
Frankly, a re-telling of the previous night could be funny. However, just saying something happened with no actual insight into how it happened takes away from it big time.
I went into this film simply expecting a laugh, and was partially fulfilled. Truthfully, I think if you don't think about the media you consume you will love this film beyond belief. However, if you don't take things at face value you will see how this film falls apart. Pardon me for taking interest in the things I view and talking about them in depth. Just something I enjoy.

Which is the point of the movie. You have a hangover before freak? So you're telling me they couldn't do something such as what happened with Tyson? (Trying not to give too much away) In that sense both are satisfied, they still have their hangover and the audience gets another laugh which is more than just topical. The comedy could have been much better in my eyes. To me it seems that Todd Phillips is just repackaging his frat boy type of humor once again. The talent in this film could have really opened it up more, something I hope shows up more in the sequel.

There can be a ton of potential for a sequel. I can't remember where but I've heard it is suppose to based more around Alan.
