I don't believe I've ever seen a topic on switching conferences before on these boards, but I was wondering if anyone actively pursues getting teams to switch conferences (besides your own).
I've recently been simulating seasons to see who I could get to trade conferences. So far, through six (6) seasons, I've averaged only one (1) team per year. I've been compiling data on what I've been doing and moving up isn't as cut and dry as you would hope. For instance, Fresno St. became a 6* franchise and was not invited to the PAC-10; in fact, Hawaii (a 3* at the time, I think) was added in place of Cal instead! It took Colorado St. a couple of unbeaten seasons before joining the Big 12. The biggest problem lies out west were there is only one conference - the PAC-10.
There have been a few other findings, but I'm wondering if anyone else has been pursuing this.

I don't sim and I haven't played NCAA Football in a good month (thanks to bball and MLB games) but when teams switch, I always notice that Cal and Northwestern seem to get the boot in their respective conferences after a while.

Only your team can make a conference switch, I know that much. Also, you can't switch if you are a BCS conference either. That should basically cover it, I think. I'm tired and I may have over-looked stuff

What I was doing in the simulation was selecting the best non-BCS conference teams right before the bowl season started. When the bowls were complete, you might get an invite. But even with controlling 12 teams at a time, I only averaged one (1) switch per year.

I always notice that Cal and Northwestern seem to get the boot in their respective conferences after a while. Yup, happened with my simming as well. Kentucky and Duke also got pretty quick exits (with Louisville and UCF taking their respective places).

Oh my bad, I didn't read your post right. I'm just really tired tonight. Yeah, those conference switches are rather rare.

Well Duke is crap anyway, they're definitely at the top of my hate list. But I do like them in the ACC so Maryland can pummel them in football, and sometimes whoop em in bball.

it all depends on how the team does during that year I have seen some other teams like, Indiana was knocked out of the Big-10 for me and I have seen Baylor kicked out of the Big-12 as well as Arizona and out of the Pac-10 so it all depends on how the teams do that season...but dont forget if you do bad u get kicked out of that conference for another good team so u fall down to
