He didn't really "rip" the media, he ripped on one Oklahoma columnist, Jenni Carlson. But his rant applies to all sports media out there.
The best part about it was that the reporter was a kU grad.

I was glad to see it. He is a college athlete... he deserves to be criticized in some ways but come on... most of us are now in or heading to college soon. The reporter took it too far on such a young kid.

Mike Gundy used to be a starting quarterback for Okie State, so it's no surprise that he defended his players the way he did. I think he did the right thing.

I agree that he definitely did the right thing, but I think he could have done it in a little more tactful way. Going up and staring down the reporter the whole time during his rant was a little much. It honestly made him look like an ass.
He would have been better served had he confronted the reporter in person or contacted her or her boss in a more private manner.

I think he decided to tear apart this particular journalist so that he wouldn't talk about playoffs. Or practice. Or the fact that it's Division 1 football. Or that they were who we thought they were. Or that they play to win the game.
Seriously, I love Gundy for what he did. In a non-gay way of course.

I'm not disagreeing with you at all, I'm just saying that this seemed more like a behind-closed-doors kinda thing.
Some media types do need this, though. Hopefully this serves as a wake-up call. Apparently, Carlson rebuked Gundy and stood by her article.
Figures, being a beaker and all.
