As much as Spartan deserves it, I'm going to have to go with my man Tim...

Let me pose this question.... why shouldn't Tebow win it?
His stats I think are the most impressive and the best all around stats I have seen in a very long time. I don't know what Troy's numbers were like last year, but this is what I have seen.

Bout to include him, but thought finalists would be better.

I may be a bit biased, but the first player to rush for and pass for over 20 TDs should win the Heisman, whether he's a FR, SO, JR, or SR. Not to mention how he single-handedly won games for us this year. The guy is a monster.

Thought I should let you guys know of Troy Smith's ballot..
1. Dennis Dixon 2. Colt Brennan 3. Darren McFadden
I may idolize Troy, but leaving Tebow out of the top 2 is ridiculous.
*Just a my opinion here: If Tebow wins it this year I don't think he repeats next year. A lot of his oppurtunities will be taken away by Emmanuel Moody coming in.

Dennis Dixon?! What the hell. Troy better fix his ballot before I find his ass. He does play for Baltimore...

I'd love to be able to say my team beat a Heisman Winner.
Go Tim!

Tebow deserves it. It doesn't matter whether he's a FR, SO, JR, SR, ju-co, whatever. He's the best player in the country, bar none.

I love Smith, David. But C-USA = No Heisman.
However, he should be in contention for (and should win) the Doak Walker award. By some ridiculous twist of fate, he is not.

Interesting comparison of Alex Smith and Tim Tebow, never thought about it until now. (Really doesn't have any effect on this discussion but I was surprised at how close the two really are)
Alex Smith had similar numbers to Tim Tebow in his second year under Urban Meyer, and despite his team having a better year, and being ranked higher in every poll, Alex Smith did not finish in the top 5 vote getters for the Heisman Trophy. So it would be at least as fair not to have Tebow in the top 3 if an Alex Smith didn't finish in the top 5.
And now that Alex Smith is already in the past, one can make a plausible argument that Tebow is a similarly good fit in a great Urban Meyer offensive machine, only with lesser running backs. Some of the stats are hauntingly similar through 12 games played (same exact amount of pass attempts, both 2nd nationally in QB efficiency rating, w/in 4 total completions of each other, Smith 4 INTs/ Tebow 6 INTs, Smith 32 passing TDs/ Tebow 29 passing TDs, etc.)..

Now THAT'S the most outstanding imo ESPN was being lame and tried to bring down Smith's achievement. They said even if he does pass Sanders, he used 13 games while Sanders only used 11.

Oh, David, dont get me wrong I like Smith too. But I'm going to use the same argument as Brennan, and say that neither would have half the numbers they do if they played in the SEC...
But he deserves big time recognition, no doubt.

We are saying who SHOULD win, not who WILL win. At least that's what I got from the title of the thread. The award goes to "the most outstanding player in college football." Being on the verge of breaking a record most people though no one would come close to is without a doubt the most outstanding thing I've witnessed this season.

He put up 150 and 2 TDs against Texas, who was pretty good this year. Their other major conference opponent was NC St., who wasn't that good, but he put up 210 and 2 scores.
