"The three best players I've had in this program were Pisa Tinoisamoa (now a linebacker with the St. Louis Rams), Colt Brennan and Davone Bess, and I recruited all three of them from jail," Jones says. "We can't get a kid like that to come to Hawaii. If a kid like that doesn't have legal trouble, he's going to USC or Colorado or somewhere."

FSU, Miami, USC, the list goes on... its not news to anyone that players get into trouble.. but one thing is that all 3 of the UH players have yet to have any legal or academic problems since being at Hawai'i.. i don't care where we get our players as long as they play well and don't f**k it up for the school.

i still have no idea why people keep bringing up stuff about Hawaii on here... where was this hate for Boise State? or for Utah?

i'm not trying to. Im just saying you can bring up old stuff like they didn't play any tough teams or gimmick offense or players from a troubled past its not going to do anything to me so whats the point of talking about it... besides this whole thread has been covered.. its not a shock players had trouble in the past or even during school (FSU) or after (miami U)

College athletic programs recruit athletes. They could be terrorists, but damnit, if they've got that 40 time, we're signing that young boy up.

well technically... those 3 players:

Davone Bess - Mistaken helped some friends out by driving a car that he didn't know that had stolen stuff in it. He didn't kill anyone or even stab anyone. Yes he was recruited out of a JV hall but he also was recruited by Oregon State. Has yet to be involved with any legal or academic problems since being apart of University of Hawai'i

Colt Brennan - A part of University of Colorado org. and was intoxicated and walked into a female dorm and would'nt leave. He never touched her but was charged with 18months of probation and kicked off CU's team (while being apart of many CU debacles at the time) went to saddleback JC and didn't have any troubles and then offered to walk-on to UH's team after turning down scholarships from Syracuse and SJSU. Has yet to be involved with any legal or academic problems since leaving CU and Was technically never recruited from a "jail"

Pisa Tinoisamoa - Had a troubled past while being in high school in San Diego area. Went to UH and never had any problems with the law and has since become a starter for the Rams and constantly is a good game player.

Okay, that's all fine and dandy that you can pull up reasons as to why they did it, but in the end, was it not still a crime? I honestly doubt Bess didn't know there was stolen stuff in the car.

And FWIW, the coed whose dorm Brennan refused to leave said, and I quote "exposed himself and fondled her", but that was thrown out due to lack of evidence. The reason it's thrown out is because it's "he said she said", and unless the girl just happened to have a digital camera and was in a mental state that allowed her to take a picture or record a video there wasn't going to be any evidence.
