Anyone got any advice?
I wanted to start a dynasty soon and I did kind of a practice try and didn't have much success.
Any tips on "hard selling" or anything like that?

Once you find their Most, and two very highs just hard sell those and don't worry about the rest.

You want the recruit to be very high or most in things you are at least Excellent in. I personally try to get every pitch locked in, never lost a recruit when that happens. Just my .02

Pretty much.
And Bama since I play with Ohio State I never had to worry about swaying, so that's why I left that out.

for choosing prospects I usually pick 20 guys that are "green" and 5 or so guys who are "red" ie. I'm not in top 10. It's really up to you though. If your playing as a good team, you dont need to recruit "red" players as often.
basically what you want to do is sway their interest on every pitch. It is the best way to increase interest. So if your great or better in an area see first find the pitch then try to sway it up if you can.
In the areas you aren't as good try to sway down. If your successful you will see a down red arrow. That is a good thing. It means there interest has gone up.
In terms of visits try to pick a date in the teens where either you are playing a conference opponent or a rival. Make sure you can win the game though if you lose that will have a huge impact on their interest.
The offseason is where I shine though I have not lost a prospect that had me in the top 3. Basically the best way to get the prospect is to promise them. Especially if you third and you really like them promising is a good idea. I usually use no redshirt, playing time, and winning record vs rivals. For in home visits pick the earliest available date for the prospects who you think are leaning towards another team. You can only visit 8 per week so be picky about who you visit dont just pick you top 8.
If you can get your top 25 prospects to the offseason in their top 3 and follow these steps you can guarantee a good class.

Should I only talk to them for a little bit so I don't annoy them?
And if they have a pitch that matches a "great" or "good" pitch of mine, should I hard sell it?
When should I hard sell it and when should I not?
Should I keep my eyes on the smiley football?

hard selling really doesn't do anything if you already know the pitch. Hard selling is to turn around a conversation that is going south (ie the smiley face is getting angry). The smiley face really, as far as I can tell, only tells you how the current convo is going, however I doubt that having a recruit hang up every is good.
BTW here's how the pitches match up:
Elite - Most Excellent - Very High Great - High Very Good - Above Average Good - Average Fair - Low Sub Par - Very Low Poor - Least
the last two may be different but you dont really have to worry about those. Also if a pitch is most, very high, very low, or least you can't sway the pitch.

You don't want them hanging up, so yeah watch the smiley face. It doesn't matter if you stop talking to them with a smile on the face, but you don't want them getting ticked to the point they hang up.
Only hard sell to keep them interested in the conversation/keep them happy. Late in the season, after vistis, I just hard sell in order to keep some contact and hopefully keep them from going somewhere else. Before that it is generally a lot of swaying to get them "very high" in the stuff I'm elite in. Then I show them that stuff on a visit against a rival. Always at least an (A-) visit, normally A.

What if I sway my good stuff and they get worse? Does that mean I don't have a very good shot at signing them?
For example, I have high conference prestige and they had it as good, and then I swayed it and it went to average. Is that bad?
And if they have something as high, should I try and sway it to be excellent?
When should I offer schollies? During the visit?
I love this recruiting but I am so confused.

Actually, it does matter some. If you hard sell and complete the pitch with a smiley face, it's supposed to increase interest.

bearcat, I haven't noticed that very much but I will keep an eye out for it.
spartan, I really have no idea what your talking about. If you sway and are successful it will sway up not down. I usually just offer right off the bat but I haven't played around with that much

You have to complete a pitch to increase interest, otherwise it doesn't do anything.
Oh, and Spartan, offer right off the bat to increase their interest right away, and to possibly get a committ upon offering.

yeah if they have you first you may get a commit right away.
completing the pitch doesn't matter when hard selling a pitch you've already found. All that hard pitching does is increase the interest in the current convo so you can sway or find new pitches (the things that increase overall interest)

So that way, if you find all their interests, you can easily make them have a good time on their visits with the activities?

yeah thats the key. Make sure that, unlike in previous years, you schedule your visit later in the year (weeks 10-14). However, always schedule your offseason visit as early as possible.
Also, just something I have picked up on: when a recruit is ready to visit you, choose to call him then schedule his visit. At the top of the schedule visit screen you'll see some dialog (something like: "I'd love to see more of the city I might be moving to.") revealing a pitch that is at the least very high (possibly most). So if the pitch is still hidden and your at least great in it hard sell the pitch instead of just finding it and it'll increase his interest more.

Yeah Spartan, try and wait until weeks 9-14, and try to pick a rival.
