I don't understand why Gundy is under fire for it. He put in the quarterback who he thought was better, coaches lose faith in players all the time I was having trouble understanding as well. I got the vibe that Reid was injured off and on and that Robinson could stay a bit more healthy. Robinson played well so it isn't like talent wasn't a factor. I can maybe see Reid upset that Gundy broke a promise to him, but that happens a lot in sports. I think the real story was that Reid just bought in to the promise of Mike Gundy a little too much. He needs to realize that there are tons of other football players and God forbid one comes up who may have better upside than himself.

Reid was mad because Gundy put on a show for the most part.
Yeah, he was mad about the playing time, but that was not was he was most worried about. He was mad he had a coach say a number of things behind his back and to his face and then come off and put on a show during a press conference.

But I mean, that's big time college football, it's a big show, and he's going to do what he thinks he has to do.

The kid is soft. Plain and simple.
This happens all the time and he couldn't take it.

And you know this for fact? Do you play for them or talk to them on a frequent basis? Yeah, but you won't believe me any way so what's the point? I have actually talked to Izzo and Dantonio both multiple times a year. Larry Caper, a 2009 commit whom I go to school with, has visited with several current players already, and there is nothing but positive words out of their mouths. Coach D, also has a very laid back recruiting style. Doesn't talk bad about any program. Keeps it to Michigan State and that only.

Sitting him, plenty of reason to a point, lying wasn't necessary to be quite honest but I can't say how things work so I don't know.
As for the totally unnecessary show he performed at the press conference, knowing now that it was fake makes a lot of sense. There was no reason for him to flip like he did. So it was basically to make himself look good and he sat there and lied to a whole load of reporters and all of us, acting like he cared about some player when he really didn't.
It's not the kid's fault he's as fragile as McNabb, that's what you get when you're a running quarterback. But Gundy didn't need to lie as much as he did, he didn't need to put on his little show at the press conference, and he didn't need to make himself out to be some superhero while he was really just crushing the kid's ego.
I hope Reid does get into the NFL, it'd obviously be a great thing to see; I'm pretty doubtful though on where he'll be drafted, if at all.

Regardless of what a coach does with playing time, that doesn't really matter. What matters is he didn't really mean what he said in the press conference.

I agree with Spartan here, I hope Reid does a good enough job at Texas Southern to get some looks from the NFL scouts. It isnt impossible to get noticed anymore from these small schools, lately its actually been one of the drafts main focuses with who will be a steal from these small schools and what not.

Exactly my thought Leak. I really think this kid has a shot at the pros if he performs well. He will be that big name guy at the small school. I think he can make it. Now whether or not he will do anything once he is there is a completely different story.

Now whether or not he will do anything once he is there is a completely different story. I'm not gonna lie that is a sad story to me. I think that Gundy kinda threw him in front of a bus and to me too it seems kind of disrespectful. This is kind of the story for me this year at hockey my high school coach called and called for me to go play and promised me all this ice time and it really never came. So I kinda know how he feels... I hope that he looks good at Texas Southern and can get some looks for the draft. I remember just hearing his name because he would always be a top 5 pick in imported draft classes in Madden
