NCAA Football has always sold much better than MM, that's why it's given more emphasis and hence produced a much better/cleaner game. Unfortunately for big college b-ball fans like me, it means we suffer and wonder things like why they can't make recruiting in MM exactly like NCAA Football. That said, the recruiting this year seems to be MILES AHEAD of previous versions. The same could be said of Madden vs NCAA Football. Madden is and always will be EA's flagship game-so it will get all the bells/whistles first. It's just good business.

I personally think it is the best recruiting system I have used for any game. It goes throughout the whole season and is easy to find the players you need and who want you.

I think MM2004 has much better gameplay than ESPN (I've played both), but the recruting process is a royal pain in the rump on MM2004. It takes forever to load up each week, and I've frequently recruited 95 OVR guys, which shouldn't happen too often. ESPN destroys MM in recruiting.

I think the franchise mode in ESPN blows MM away, which is why I buy my sports games.

Yeah, I did a little research on both games before I made my purchase. I'm a little biased towards EA's gameplay, but I've always been frustrated with MM's lack of features. Last year I bought Sega's College B-ball 2k3, because MM didn't even have dynasty mode. That really ticked me off.
But I found the gameplay of Sega's version a little klunky and not as fluid and tad slow. Like I said before, I was probably just used to playing EA games.
From what I've read, it's pretty much the consensus that ESPN's has much better sim/dynasty features, but MM's gameplay is better. I was kind of torn between the two, but since I found that I won't finish my seasons if I don't like the gameplay, I decided on MM. Plus it had the dynasty mode and more teams added this year. While I still don't think it's close to good, I enjoy the gameplay, so I figure I'll keep playing dynasties that way.
The main beefs I have with MM so far (in my limited playing of it so far) are:
- recruiting appears to be too easy (as someone stated above) - having to pick my fav school EVERY time I enter the game - create a school doesn't allow full flexibilty in uniforms or mascots.(I'm really ticked about this one) - editing the player rosters is not very fluid.
Anyone else? I'm sure I'm missing some.

To save your favorite team I think you have to save your settings or something.
One thing I hate is how slow the menus are, it seems like it takes forever to move and to load things

i agree with gators on the saving....those are my only complaints with the ea bball games is the saving process which is rediculous.
I believe these and FIFA are the only ea games without auto-save features

I find the gameplay way more realistic on ESPN. It's also 300% better than last year's version and a lot different. Just my opinion though.
