I just got done winning the National Title with UTEP (in my 25th year there), with a 38-0 record. Anyway, I didn't win my conference, Boise State did with an 19-14 record. Now, doesn't something seem slightly odd about that?
Oh and 38-0, that has to count for something around here.

As part of the agreement with the NCAA in both March Madness and College Hoops 2k5, several teams are garunteed a conference title each season. Rumor has it that several schools actually witheld from being used in the game unless they recieved garunteed conference titles at least once in the first quarter century of the game. The rational behind this is that it will gain their school more publicity. My best guess is that Boise State is one of these teams. They could have gone 0-1000 and still won the conference, becauase they had to sometime before the twentyfifth season.
*admires well constructed story* OK, so I have no idea, but it has happened to me too. I have finished the season with the best record and won my conference tourney and still lost out to a lesser team.

Yeah what's crazy is I went and simmed another year just to see, my Miners went 36-3 (though all in conference, still much better than anyone) and Boise State again came out the winner with a 10-18 record. Who cares though, I'm now at Minnesota, hoping to give them what resembles a basketball program.

Same thing happened to me. I won the Patriot League with Holy Cross, yet American was listed as the conference champion.
I know better, though. ;D

It's a bug in the game where no matter what, the first team in the conference alphabetically will be listed as the Conference Champions. From what I hear, it sometimes will correct itself.

And the moral of the story? Pick a team first alphabetically in the conference for an unfair advantage.

And the moral of the story? Pick a team first alphabetically in the conference for an unfair advantage. Well the only advantage is that you get credit for it there. It's really not going to help if you go winless unless you like getting ur ass kicked by a 1 seed...

If you win your conference, but this bug shows another team as the conference champion due to alphabetical order, who gets the automatic bid to the NCAA tournament?

You go to the tourney...it's just a glitch that SHOWS the wrong champ but doesn't send them to the tourney (thank god!).

This is how the glitch works.
After the in season recruiting period ends, DON'T SAVE. If you save after that point, the alphabet glitch will be put into effect. It also is the same with the schedualing bug. The best thing you can do is save the tournaments for a day when you don't have anyhting to do. I'm 99% sure it'll owrk for you.
