So I'm playing ESPN College Hoops and doing a little recruiting, and I notice this 5 star center that would love going to BC. I go to his house, e-mail him and call him, and now I'm his top priority in schools, over Connecticut and Wake Forest.
I looe at his player card thing for the first time, and notice he's 6'6". Not only that, but he's only like 230 lbs. The dude would get wrecked if he played center, unless he's still growing, which I really hope he is.

Yeah, guys grow throughout the years. If the guy's a 6'6 center, he'll probably turn out to be 6'9 or 6'10 (hopefully)

I don't think they have a growing system in ESPN College Hoops that I've seen. I know I've unsuccessfully recruited a couple 5'6" point guards, but that's not as bad as a 6'6" center.

even though i've never played this game, he's got to be a 5 star guy for some reason
now maybe he's got good inside shooting, but i agree that 6'6 center would get murdered in college hoops, much less the NBA

Well, you could start him at one of the forward positions...

I think I remember having a guy who was about 6'11, and by the time he graduated he was 7'1 or so..maybe it depends on the player.

That's interesting to know that the players grow, hopefully you guys that are saying that are correct. I'm in season 2 of a Providence legacy, where my friend is playing as Ole Miss.
I've got a couple questions about the game I'd like to know if anyone here can answer:
1) What's the difference between "reserve" and "Bench" players? It appears to me that the "Reserves" don't actually suit up for games. But is that it? Do they coun't against scholarship limit?
2) Can anyone else sub after made FTs? I can't seem to.
3) Anyone know how to call Full-court press defense? It's not in the Defense playbook. If you switch your defense playcalling to manual, you'll never use it, it seems to me. When iit's on Auto, I'll see it called every once in a while.
Thanks for any feedback. Stephen

I can answer number three sort of. When you go to your coaching profile thing, and it has all the options about what offense or defense ect, just go down to press frequency and choose what you want.
Though it's really a pain you can't call it from your defensive plays.

Subbing in ESPN comes automatically unless you change it, but I don't change it so I wouldn't know. They do come after free throws for me though. What bama said.

2) Can anyone else sub after made FTs? I can't seem to. Thanks for any feedback. Stephen I'll speak for the NCAA in general, and I know this is true on the EA games... if your free throw shooter is involved in the substitution, the subs are not performed unless the 2nd free throw is made. That may be common sense, but it may be part of it. Even if you pick 3 subs, if any of the subs involve a position switch or an outright substitution of the shooter, then the substitutions are delayed. Like I said, that's common sense to a lot of people, it may not be the cause of the problem, but you'd be surprised how many people don't think about it.

In ESPN, for some reason, if you are subbing out the guy at the line, even if he makes the 2nd FT, he won't leave until the next stoppage.

Thanks for pointing out the obvious robino, I understand what you're saying. I should've stated in my original post that I'm aware of the real substitution rules. Thanks for the feedback guys. I'll try the suggestion about bumping up my press settings. Didn't think about that one. However, it does blow that I can't just set a quick play to press in my defensive playbook.

Stephen 1.Reserves are your red-shirts 2.I have, you need to do a sub, before you goto the first FT. 3.Never used it.

Presses never seem to work for me, so I don't usually bother with them. Most of the time I just end up getting dunked on when I press.

I have a terrible problem with my presses. Well not horrible, actually great. Anyway, when I do my zone press, or w/e where the 3 guys are pressing on the inbound, one at half court and one all the way back, the guy in front of the inbounder steals the ball off the inbound 50% of the time. Of course, 40 of that other 50 results in them getting an alley oop, but it's still kinda cool if you wanna cheat. That's why I turn off my presses...

Changing th press settings in the Coach Settings worked-I was able to set up a press to run after made baskets, or always, or occassionally.
However, after setting it up to run "Always", I found that none of the presses work very effectively. I keep getting beat for layoups. I'm sure I need to just practice each one more, and learn the nuances of each. But I'm not going to do that in my season, I'll wait to do it in exhibitions. Thanks for the feedback, guys.
