College Hoops 2k6 is sounding like the greatest basketball game ever. Just the off-the-court features are making me giddy:
Studio Show
Screenshot
- Hosted by Greg Gumble and Clark Kellogg
- Game-Changing Performance highlight play at the end of the game
- Breakdown of preseason Top 25 - every team is discussed (Legacy Mode)
- Coaching carousel updates (Legacy)
- Announcement of 1st and 2nd team All-Americans
- TV-style selection Sunday, meaning you'll have to sweat it out to see if you're going to the Big Dance, complete with cut scenes to teams and fans as their seeds are announced
Legacy Mode
- 85% of real college coaches appearances in the game (coach editor available if it's a generic)
- Each coach graded on charisma and discipline
- "Player Disposition" chart allows you to see individual players' confidence/focus (less PT, less confidence, worse play)
- Coach-Player meetings...you get 2 meetings per player a year, in which you can give a confidence/discipline boost, with the effect depending on your coach's grade. If you don't have your meetings, the player may decide to transfer
- REAL IN-SEASON TOURNEYS!! WOOOOO!! Included are the Guardians Classic, BCA Classic, BCA Invitational, Preseason NIT, BP Top of the World Classic, Pepsi Blue and Gold Classic, Great Alaska Shootout, Comcast Invitational, and Coaches Vs. Cancer.
- Midnight Madness scrimmage to see how your starters stack up against your bench.
During the Game
- "Points of Emphasis" boost during timeouts, in which you can provide a ratings boost for a short period of time in one area of the game...ball control, rebounding, shot selection, and defense. Effectiveness will again be determined by your coach's grade. Boosts last between 2-5 minutes.
- The gameplay itself is slightly faster than last year, and the defensive pressure has been upped a notch to make getting the ball across half court a lot tougher when playing against teams who like the press. The defense will jump passing lanes more, and it's more difficult to blindly throw passes from one end of the court to the other without watching the pass get picked off.
Recruiting
- Top 800 ranking of recruits
- The ability to talk to high schoolers as early as their freshman year of HS
- HS players progress/degress as their careers go on...you could start out recruiting a younger player who is a 3 star recruit - he could turn into a 5 star diaper dandy or a 1 star CC player.
- 3 National HS Camps: Elite, Advanced, Intermediate. Each camp has 100 players, including underclassmen, and you have the ability to play as and against these players in scrimmages, even run drills, and obviously, the more you focus on one group of players throughout camp, the more details and overall attributes your scouts are able to unveil about those players.
Also for you online gamers, in March 2KSports will unveil a national tournament to coincide with the actual "March Madness"
