Wow... does anybody want this job? So far, they've been turned down by John Calipari, Rick Barnes, Steve Lavin, and John Beilein, and now they have to move on to whoever's next. They've made the process way too public, and they're a bit of a laughinstock at this point. It really makes me appreciate the way the IU coaching search was handled... a lot of people thought they knew what was going on (Andy Katz, in particular), but in the end, no one but Greenspan knew who it was going to be.

I don't blame them. Not much talent at NC State since Julius Hodges went to the NBA last season.

They're not built for future success, their best players are off to the NBA, they're in a difficult conference, you name it. This team is in a position to become the next Wake Forest...mediocre team in a good conference. No green pastures in sight.
Bleak outlook, no?

I think the only reason coaches are going to stay away from NC State is because of Duke and UNC. They're really too close to both schools to be too competitive in the ACC. I can't think of many other reasons... fertile recruiting area, excellent facilities, tons of money, devoted fans... locatoin notwithstanding, they should be able to land anyone.

Pssh, I don't know if they're looking for only a headline-named coach, but you'd think there's got to be at least a few coaches in mid-major conferences that would like to get a name for themselves in a power conference...

I personally think Gregg Marshall from Winthrop would be a pretty good choice, but NCSU does seem to be looking for that home run hire. The only problem is, nobody's throwing them any fast balls.

All the "homerun" hires have passed them by.

Lots of rumors in Indiana that NCSU could be hiring Notre Dame's Mike Brey. That would make the fans EXTREMELY happy.
Well, Notre Dame fans, that is. They can't wait to get rid of him.

Not a bad move considering he's an NC State guy. Played under Jimmy V on the national championship team.
