So I've rented CH2k7 - had it for about a month now. I'm doing a... closed legacy I think it is - the one with the shady teams - and I picked Texas State. So I'm playing with them, struggle at first a little and 7 or 8 games into it, I get pretty good. Good enough that I should have beat Texas were it not for a 1/2 court + buzzer beater to win for the horns. So I chalk that up to I'm getting better but not quite there yet.
I lose one of my first 2 conference games, and then I rip through the conference without a struggle, end 21-5 (15-1) I think, run the conference tourney and make it to the NCAA's. I'm a 12-seed and I draw 5-seed Winthrop. Okay, so they're not a powerhouse by any mean, but their rating is like a 79 to my 66.
I play the game, and I have my worst shooting I've had on there, to the point where my guys are blowing 100% open layups, probably 12-15 times total. My best player went 3-16 or something when he's normally around 65-70%.
I understand that a 66 rated team should not beat everyone, but if I've learned to utilize my team to the best of their ability, why should the game sandbag me and start making me miss my shots? Same as errant passes increase when you play a better school, even inbounding the ball without pressure all of a sudden turns into an adventure. I led most of the game, never more than by 6, and finally lost the lead with 3 minutes remaining and figured it was time for the computer to make me lose. To my surprise, I was able to go on a 9-0 run or something and close the game out to advance, but I'm surprised the computer even let me do that! :-)
I enjoy the game and don't expect to be knocking off the top teams but if I get behind the defense and am cruising in for a dunk or a lay up with no one within 20 feet of me, don't make the thing roll off the rim when it's never done that for that player before.
I play 4-seed Georgia Tech next and expect to see the computer "root" against me again!

I've had games like that with the Buckeyes. Mike Conley has developed into the nation's best three point shooter for me, and Greg Oden is money from inside the arc. I played North Carolina in the NCAA Championship game, and got just plain rocked. Conley was not only missing threes, but missing layups as well. I couldn't even dunk it with Oden, he would miss those. Not to mention a little 6'1 guy blocking Greg Oden's shot.

My take....no matter how good they are, all teams will have nights where they inexplicably can't hit the broad side of a barn. I think it's just art imitating life, but that could just be my take.

Missing layups, is probably one of the few flaws in this game. I know teams miss layups but they got carried away.
Very simple solution, up the layup slider.

a) I don't mess with sliders typically
b) I would agree with you DB, but this has happened only against UT and Winthrop in the tourney, both teams which outrated me by 15pts or so. If it happens again against GT, then 3 positive data points make a trend :-) Though technically I have 30 data points that prove that season-long. You've had to notice that the passes go flying straight out of bounds not near anyone ONLY when you're playing good teams. Then again, if you haven't played as a week team, you wouldn't have noticed this yet.

So I played my game with GT and it did the same thing in the first half - down at the half 32-18, but it was 30-8. 16 of the 18 points were layups, other two were FT's. All shots outside of the paint were clanged horribly.
With that said though, the game let me play my game the second half and I was up 36-35 within 2 minutes of starting the half I ended up winning 54-49, so now the question is why did it stop sandbagging me in the 2nd half. It was the same thing as before - all shots missing, passes going no where, etc in the first half. Then all of that disappeared in the 2nd half and I did nothing different.

That's fairly realistic to me, a team has a bad night and it will usually care over to the first half of the next game.

the only time this happens is when I play a bad team cause they go into a fullcourt press defense since I am very good and usually up like 30-40 points. Seriously only passes under 5 feet would be anywhere near being complete. Luckily by that time I have scored so much it really doesn't matter. it doesn't happen against good teams though cause usually the games are pretty close.

I play 4-seed Georgia Tech next and expect to see the computer "root" against me again! Double posting. I've got a few gripes - the big one to me is this player momentum thing. It's irritating when you have a man cutting to the basket, and when you try to pass to him on a fast break, he fades from the basket as he's catching the ball. Argh. I just played a game and beat Nebraska 58-50, but it could have been a lot worse had I been able to cut to the hoop and score 8-10 more points. Is there a way to turn this off? Inside shooting is ok - just have to adjust the sliders. Players still miss a decent amount of open layups, though. I think 2K is still focusing too much on graphics instead of gameplay. It's a good game and I think it's better, but slightly. There aren't really any improvements beside the weekly show and the NIT.
