Anyone watch this? Great fricken game.... Ohio State up 20 at the half, Michigan State pulls within one and had a chance to win on a three but it doesn't go. Sure, my team lost, but they played their f'n asses off. I have never been more proud of these kids this season, and no one thought that they could rally from 20 points down to have a chance to win. Neitzel, you can't even say he's not one of the best, if not the best point guards in the Big Ten. I think he outscored or almost outscored Ohio State in the second half. Very good game by both teams, and I still can't believe this is a rebuilding year.

At least they're not as overrated as Alabama. Tell me about it. Lazy defense, lazy offense, and just a general apathy until it's 52-30 in the second half. The offense consists of either Steele or Gee getting the ball, dribbling for ten seconds, than driving the line and missing the shot. Then we'll get lucky sometimes and have Hendrix or Davidson get an offensive rebound and score. I also don't remember the last time we took a charge or got a blocking foul called on us. That 2-3 zone we run lets other teams go ape from three and when we play man, everyone is too lazy to actually stick with their guy. There's just no intensity, and it looks more like a pick up game than college basketball. That's the thing about Gottfried, he'll overachive just enough to save his job and underachieve just enough not to get us to the promised land. Too bad.

Are you sure that Quin hasn't assimilated himself with Gottfried? Ha.

You know, that is exactly what Bama reminds me of this season, Missouri Basketball. Always has talent, but never can deliver.

We've got some talented players, but we're not talented by any stretch of the imagination. DeMarre Carroll from Vandy might be a huge difference-maker for us next season. Can run the floor, is a rebounding monster, and averages about 10 points a pop.
I'll take that.
And you're thinking of Kansas, not Missouri.
Kansas is the master of choke-jobs come March.

Well, we won in the rematch today, 63-54.
Have to hand it to Michigan State, though. They refused to let the game slip away, and it was much closer than the nine point margin of victory. A lot of questionable calls in this game, though.
Oden had a pretty off day despit the 16 points. His five turnovers were very costly.

Bad calls for both teams. I had a hunch that maybe MSU could pull it out, but we couldn't capitalize when we had it close and Neitzel can't do it all.
If Neitzel and Suton weren't the only ones doing anything, Michigan State probably would have won that game. Now we have to get focused if we want an NCAA appearance for the 10th straight year.
Schedule is brutal though @ Purdue (playing great lately) Michigan (should get it) Iowa Wisconsin Indiana @ Michigan @ Wisconsin
I hate the way that stretch ends on the road. Should get both UM games and should win at least three out of four in those home games. Purdue game scares me, mainly because their confidence is through the roof right now, and ours isn't. We need that one.

If there are only 4 or 5 teams making it in to the tourney from the Big Ten, then Michigan may need to beat you twice Spartan. Indiana, Ohio State, and Wisconsin are in for sure, as for the rest I think its a race between us two...

I don't think you guys will get in, not trying to put you down. I think Amaker is a horrible coach and Courtney Sims is a pansy. I thought you guys would get there this year, but that loss to Iowa at home hurt.
Amaker just doesn't have these kids ready for anyone besides Maryland Baltimore County and Eastern Michigan. You saw what happened against UCLA and Georgetown. I'm not tryin to down your program, I just think it's time for a new coach. I think he should have made it last year with Horton and all of them. At least Hunter wasn't a pansy inside.
I also don't think you'll get in because of Illinois. Illinois even with the loss to Purdue is improving rapidly. They are finally healthy and ready to rock.
I think the Big Ten will only get 4 bids, and that is with luck. With it being so down this year I think the experts will just look down on anyone else besides Wisconsin, OSU, Indiana, Michigan State and Illinois.
I don't even know if State will get in. It helps that we have given Ohio State and Maryland good games, and beat a talented Texas team. Regardless if we get in or not, we have gotten there 9 years in a row, Izzo still has 4 final fours in 8 years, and a national championship. I am pleased that we did this well in a rebuilding year. Can't wait for the guys coming in next year. 3rd best recruiting class.
If I had to think about it now, I think only the Big 3 get in and if it's 4, it will be MSU or Illinois. Michigan just lacks a signature win, thats all. That's what kills them every year. They don't even have an RPI in the top 50, and they are a Big Ten team. Amaker is not right for you, or for that matter anyone.
I'm not saying you guys won't get in, but right now, it's another trip to the Not Invited Tournament.

I couldn't agree more Spartan about Amaker. I think he did a great job turning us around with all that held over the program at first, and for that, I thank him. But now we have the talent to be making the NCAA Tournament and are bringing in decent recruiting classes and just can't beat the better team or any Big Ten team for that matter.
And Illinois won't get in this year unless they win the tourney, although they had a better start to the Big Ten schedule.
I think its time we look outside the program again to find a new Head basketball Coach, but I have no idea who I would like to see.

Amaker is trying to run a motion offense, when he doesn't have kids who can run a motion offense.
How he thought Courtney Sims was good is beyond me. He should be in Ivy League, he's not even deserving of the MAC. He's a pansy.
