He would not have survived another year at UK, and took the best job he could find right now. He's a very good coach, and will make Minnesota a force in the Big Ten. He just wasn't the right man at a place like Kentucky. They are the Alabama of SEC Basketball and really college basketball on the whole. I personally think it was a great move on Tubby's part, just because of personality reasons and less pressure. Now UK can go get a coach who can handle the pressure of being at UK and the fans will be behind. |

Tubby made the right choice. He knew that he would eventually be fired, and he took the struggling big-conference school over the already-powerhouse with high pressure and high expectations.

I think the writing was on the wall. It was almost like a marriage and neither side wanted a divorce because of the kids but couldn't stand eachother. This relationship was over soon after '99.

I don't think this is a bad move at all. I don't think he wants to jump to the NBA...I think he enjoys college coaching.
