Former Iowa coach Steve Alford and his family were given quite the jolt Thursday night on their way to New Mexico.

Their plane was hit by lightning about 20 minutes after leaving the Eastern Iowa Airport in Cedar Rapids.

Yeah....less than a week after leaving Iowa and he's already getting struck by lightning.

Ouch. He goes to the NCAA's last year, to not even going to the NIT, and now New Mexico. All while getting struck by lightning. And to think he was considered for Indiana last year.

Iowa fans are a hoot.

They actually think they have a shot at getting Pearl to come to Iowa City.

Iowa fans think they can get anyone they want, because they're such great fans and have a "prestigious" athletic department. It's a nice program with a very good fan following, but it's.........Iowa. It's never been a coaches' "dream" destination, and I'll be surprised if they get anyone with a semi-decent track record.
