Effective immediately. They just broke it on ESPN during the game. I expected him to after the year, but right now, odd.

Huh, this is a tad bit surprising.

wow this is shocking although I suspected his retirement would come after this season if Texas Tech doesnt make the NCAA tourney. Sad to leave a legend leave the game on a real short notice for unknown reasons.

If I'm Tech right now, I'm shopping for a new head coach. Maybe his son will work out, but all they need to do is look northward and see the absolute mess that Okie Lite is in.
Sean Sutton has no business as a D-I head coach. I hope Tech learns from oSu's mistake.

He's been by his fatherside for a long time and i heard on ESPN just now he helped recruit players to TTU. He'll probably wont be acting like a general but I think he's been with the program for so long that he'll fit right in.

I'm not saying that it won't work. Eddie was the head coach at Okie State in title, but Sean handled a lot of the game-day planning and coaching. He was even the main recruiter. Take into account that TT already has lost Jay Jackson from last year, and Martin Zeno graduates after this year. Unless their recruiting picks up, I don't see this being for the best. But I could be wrong, I have been before.
