I just downloaded Macromedia Fireworks and I am going to work at creating banners, and design other stuff like that for my sites. I was wondering where do people find their backgrounds for banners, or how do they get/make them. Im not sure if they are found, or made, and if so how. For example, not a stadium background, I know how to find that, but maybe a color background like on this one from Cubs128 below... How would I find it, or do you make it, and if so how? What I mean by this, so everyone understands is the yellow and squigly lines, not just a colored background, I want to know how to make them like that. Thanks!

I'm looking for a program where I can make a couple of banners to clebrate Bonds passing Ruth and hopefully Aaron.

Yeah, but I downloaded this and other stuff on Ares. If you dont know what Ares is, its just like Kazaa, Bearshare, Limewire, places you usually download music and stuff. So if you have that, just search for it under software, and it should be there.

As for your question, i am not an expert, but I think people lay down a picture as their background and then sort of "layer" it. I've never done it before so if I'm wrong I don't near to hear any crap.

Thanks darjarbinx! If anybody who does know for sure can back this up so I know this is true, please do so. Also, where exactly do you find the pics, as I decided just search google and type in for example: purple background for say a Ravens banner.

Well, the backgrounds are like a color with effects used on them. Some programs like photoshop and paint shop pro can do these but others cannot. The programs I used cannot so I usually just use a picture.

You layer different brushes ontop of eachother, to create the desired texture for the background.

I make my own. I can walk you through a few if you want, but mostly, I get them by just messing around.

Leak I'm also using Fireworks now, trying to fiddle around with it. If I just wanted a stadium as a background would that be the bottom layer?

Yeah make sure that is the bottom layer so that everything is on top of it.

Simple question.....
My image is taking a tad long to load up when I goto the DC page that I put it on....is that because I saved it as a png instead of a jpeg file?

Probably. Just save it as a jpeg or gif. That would be the easiest.
