The New Madden?

Has anyone heard any news of Madden 06. Are they teaming with ESPN or is that 07? Post any other news/screenshots/videos for Madden 06 here

The first news that the press is allowed to publish is coming out on April 15th. I assume that since members of the press have already seen Madden06 that there will be screenshots then.

Alright this is a rumor but........
"How much did you hate that a player could drop back and bomb it 50 yards for the score, that is changed with the inclusion of a 'cone' which shows the distance and area that you could thrown in at the current time."

Sounds too arcade-ish for my tastes. I'll be happy just as long as they seriously improve the blocking for kick returns so I'm not stuck with 5 yard returns as my long. A better Super Bowl celebration couldn't hurt, either.

As for non-gameplay stuff...I think it'd be cool to see the NFL Draft redone, more/different/better mini games for training camp, and maybe the ability to send players to NFL Europe (kind of like a pro redshirt?)

they need to improve the suction blocking, It has ran rampant in the Madden game for years. Use ESPN's blocking engine it was great. Also they need more detailed blocking assignments (eg. folds, double teams, etc.) that make it easier to find a hole for the RB. On most run plays the OL just hits the person in front of them and a hole is never really formed except on those few occasions when the D lines up right.

Also, I agree with the KR blocking it is brutal. I return from the 5 yard line and get to the 18-19. This really needs to be fixed in NCAA more than Madden. In my UofA chise my KR averaged 16.4 yards per return. 16.4!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How in the world can you average 16.4 yards per return???????? It frustrated me so much to have to start from the 20 every time after field the kick at the 5 yard line. I look at the replay and CBs are running over OL and blockers are running by guys and triple teaming the K. It is rediculous. If it was real life they would be benched faster than Ron Artest on a really bad day.

a combine where you could do mini games with the draftees would be cool, so that you get a better idea of their ability

Haha...I didn't know all of those were at IGN..I hardly ever go there.

I have no problem with the kick returning. I can get it to about the 29 from the 5. You just got to use some nice moves and hit the hole if there is one if not take it outside a little then juke spin whatever.

Your supposed to use the play-maker control for blocking I averaged about 15-20 yards with Walter Rayes.

The KR is way worse in NCAA though its now bad in Madden, but it needs some work still.

I never have trouble running. I think it is great. I hope that they dont change it. I dont understand how people have so many problems with it.

Electronic Arts' April 15 deadline for new information on Madden NFL 2006 is only a few days away, but it looks like some tidbits are slowly sneaking out about the game thanks to the latest issue of Game Informer. According to reports from the new mag, the game will feature a new addition to the passing game known as Vision Passing. With it, the quarterback's head will now swivel along with a corresponding cone representing the direction they are looking, which will affect their accuracy. Improved graphics, animation, and online play for both the Playstation 2 and Xbox will also be incorporated.

Another bit of info was also given on NCAA Football 2006: The Become A Legend mode. Starting off as a high school graduate, players will compete with other kids for scholarships through mini-games similar to Madden's to impress scouts. There will also be a Dorm Room ala ESPN NFL 2K5's Crib where players can score new TV's, couches, and various other new things except for Hummers with money inside. As in year's past, if your player progresses enough, he'll be imported into Madden 2006. Also mentioned was the game's release date of July 1, which is probably tenative since they have usually come out around the second week of that month.

Judging from the new features, it would almost be safe to guess a certain Colt from Indy has a great shot of making the cover but only time will tell. We'll have more on both Madden NFL 2006 and NCAA Football 2006 as Friday approaches, so check back for more updates.

I kind of like the idea of vision passing. It will keep people from running in one direction and then suddenly passing the ball to the opposite side of the field. Of course, we'll have to see how it works (and I don't buy Madden, anyway).
