So I’ve decided I was going to ditch the Cowboys dynasty(I was doing at maddenmania) because it simply got boring, and in turn I’ve decided to restart with another team. I decided to go with the Cincinnati Bengals in hopes of getting them to the win one and getting them a W in it. Here we go again.
The bigger part of this is I am going to work with Mudcat’s concept and do an interactive draft. I know it takes everyone awhile to get all signed, and with that it takes a while to get the season simmed the way I want it. This way everyone can sign up and get the team that they want. The only two teams that are unavailable will be the Bengals (my team) and the Kansas City Chiefs, I gave my brother a choice of team and he took them. Anyways, start signing up for your teams and keep an eye out for the Draft Class and Free Agent situation to be posted in the near future.
The Interactive Draft
If you are new to the interactive draft works, see mudcat’s Denver Broncos and Kansas City Chiefs franchise thread to get a picture. Everyone is welcome, and like I said above all but two teams are available for the taking.
Like mudcat I am going to sim the 2005 season probably a few times to try and get a close Playoff to this past season. If it doesn’t work out that way I will just stick with one I decide on.
I also have taken note of any trades that involved draft picks for this year to make things even more accurate. Such trades taken note of: The Broncos have the Redskins' 1st and 4th round picks from the Draft Day trade that allowed the Skins to take Jason Campbell, The Bills have the Titans' 3rd round pick ( for Travis Henry), Cowboys/Chiefs (Fujita), Colts/Titans (Calmus), Chargers/Dolphins (QB's), Broncos/Panthers (Punters)
Roster and Ratings
My rosters are off of the Maddenmania website and aren’t too bad. A lot of updates have been made, and I have made a few myself. I also used the same website listed for mudcat’s Kansas City franchise, which is: madden06.cjb.net. I will also be skipping the training camp part of 2005 and jumping right into simming.
The Draft Class
Minus Devin Hester from Miami and the lesser known Juniors who declared, plus Brady Quinn and a few others to declare beyond my power this draft will have all the draftees for the 2006 NFL draft.
You might be wondering how I got all the juniors into my draft class, to do that I went through and re-created all of the big name juniors with the same rating but as Seniors so they would have nothing other to do but go pro. The duplicates of those players had their rating drop to 40 so they would make no impact nor show up in a future draft class.
As well as that I realized the likelihood of some quarterbacks who had better season’s chances of playing in the NFL. I took Michael Robinson, Marques Hagans, Reggie McNeal and made those three wide receivers. Brad Smith if you look at some NFL draft scout websites is listed as a running back so I put him in that spot. I don’t think any of them made the draft class at their positions but life goes on. I also went on to move two middle linebackers to outside linebacker and moved Ernie Sims from linebackers to SS. He is a tad small to play linebacker but I see him having the possibility of playing that SS spot in the pros. Speaking of roster changes, I made a few more position changes for guys who are undersized at their position in the NFL.
I spent all of last week working on the NCAA draft class edit. It took me until last night(Saturday the 4th) to get a class I was happy with and I’ve decided to stick with that one. Between now, and when everyone has signed up for this interactive draft ‘chise I am going to work to get my madden season relatively close to real life. I can not promise it being 100% accurate but close.
Free Agents
Like mudcat, players in madden shown as possible free agent’s that aren’t free agents on the website I showed above will all be resigned. I know some players such as Antonio Gates got new deals, in his case a six year deal, and I'll copy that, I’ll try to resign a majority of the big names players to whatever they are resigned for, but for the lesser knowns it won’t work that way. I will also use that website, as well as friends and hopefully you guys to get player contracts as close to correct as possible. I know this is a video game but I greatly enjoy realism for the first few years until players start getting traded and let go as free agents, then it gets wild.

So I would like to extend the invitation for all of you to sign up for your favorite team and take part in this interactive draft. It may not be as ‘cool’ as mudcat’s but I am doing this because it will be more fun for me, plus I love the idea of drafting and the like for other people’s dynasties.

Here are a list of all the teams in the NFL and the person who will be their handler for this dynasty. If someone doesn't show up for the draft for their team I will give them a second chance to keep the team but if they aren't able to do so the team will be available upon request for the next season.
