SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) -- The San Francisco 49ers added a second first-round pick in next week's NFL draft by trading second- and third-round picks to Denver on Wednesday for the 22nd pick in the draft.
The first-rounder traded by the Broncos was their second in that round. They also have No. 15, obtained from Atlanta in a three-way deal with the New York Jets that sent defensive end John Abraham to the Falcons.
Denver's additional picks are the sixth of the second round and the 68th overall in the third.
lets hope the 49ers have a good draft this year. I hope they get Vernon Davis and now they have another chance to grab another player maybe a runningback(im just guessing) OR they can trade down to get Reggie Bush!!!!!1

Basically means that the 49ers are now free to take Vernon Davis at 6 and then use the 22nd pick to take a defensive back. Not a bad trade for the Broncos, either...they get a relatively high 2nd and 3rd round pick to add some depth.

49ers still wont be any good in 06-07. They will probably end up with the 1st pick, again, next year. Although 1st to 6th isnt to bad, for the standards they should have at this point.

The 49ers are definitely improving...that much was seen when they won their last two games and screwed up their chances for Reggie Bush. They could use help all over, though...two first round picks will help the overall quality of talent, but giving up two draft picks will hurt their ability to fill some holes with solid players.

Yes. One less team that might take Michael Huff, hopefully

i think it all depends upon what type of QB Alex Smith develops into: a Peyton or Ryan Leaf

He is not comparing him to Peyton Manning. He is just saying that 49er's future success depends on Alex Smith's skill development, they will be better if he gets closer to a Peyton Manning than a Ryan Leaf.
