Can't play forever. I think he finally realized he really wouldn't be doing much playing on the Patriots.

I still love watching the play he made when he was in college. Still, he can say he has had a succesful career. Good luck to him.

That is awesome. Doug Flutie is the man. Kicks ass in CFL, great college football play, Heisman Trophy, the drop kick, hot wife. The man is a savior.

They were talking about his chances on getting into the Hall on Mike and Mike this morning. And Trey Wingo said, since it isnt called the NFL Hall of Fame, his CFL numbers should be counted, so he should get in.

There are much more deserving quarterbacks than Flutie that deserve to be in. Trust me, I love Flutie. But CFL numbers shouldn't count nearly as much as NFL numbers. He wasn't a Hall-of-Fame guy, and if he was, he would have been in the NFL. ..

the reasons you suggested for his numbers arent that huge of a deal to be honest, I mean its not like the offense has 12 and the D has 11, one extra guy for both sides does change the game that much. However, it is more about how the game is played. In CFL there is so much passing that players regularly throw for 4000, 5000, and in Flutie's case yep 6000 yards in a season. Plus the fact that we have an extra game ion there as well and it can add up.
In the NFL it is a great season for a QB if he get 3000 yards but it is a great season for an RB if he gets 1000 yards. For example Kerry Joseph QB for the now defunct Ottawa Renegades last season threw for almost 4000 yards AND rushed for over 1000 yards. In the CFL the entire offense is more or less based off of how good you QB is. While in the NFL you can get by with an OK QB if your ground is solid (ie. Da Bears).
Personally, although I am biased cause I have seen him play so many times and cause he is my absolute favoite player of all time besides Walter Payton that is, I believe that he should definintely get into the Pro FOOTBALL (not NFL) HOF not only cause he put up god-like stats (6 MVP's in 8 CFL years for example) but mainly for what he has done for the game in Canada. He paved the way for players like Joe Horn, Jeff Garcia, Jesse Lumsden and Casey Printers (who you may see in the near future backing up Green in KC) to make their mark in the NFL. He "bridged the gap" so to speak and opened up the NFL's eyes to the possibility that the CFL wasn't just some "bush league".
