I am in a keeper league and after finishing LAST last year, I have the first pick and will be taking Reggie Bush first overall. In the league I'm in, you keep 4 players, so so far heres what I got:
Rudi Johnson Chris Chambers
You start 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 K, and 1 DU. For the other two its between these guys, if you guys could tell me your picks and reasons that would help me big time.
Michael Vick (He is the fantasy equal to Terrell Owens, looks like a good player that could help your team, then kills your team...) Jamal Lewis DeShaun Foster Lee Evans Andre Johnson

I can see why you finished last. I wouldnt go near Vick, if you want him hell be available in the 5th round or so. It looks like Williams is going to take the starting job away from Foster. Id keep Lewis and Lee Evans? Its not pretty. And there has to be a better pick for you than Bush at #1 if there arent like 20 teams in the league.

Whats wrong with Vick? He racked up 227 point last season, Peyton Manning had 270, as a fantasy QB, Vick is a solid pickup.

Well what scoring system are you using? That matters.

Vick will win you a few, but he'll lose you just as many with those 87 yard, 3 TD games.
Jamal Lewis will not put up a season like he did a few years ago ever again.

I'm leaning towards Evans and Johnson at the moment. Then I have my receivers set and can always get a decent QB late in this draft. DB your right about Lewis, I don't see him returning to his old form ever again.
And David, theres 12 teams in my league all keeping 4 players. So theres the top 48 names off the board. With close to half (if it goes like last year) being runningbacks. Then I have a young runningback for years to come, the only guys I realistically think could be out there at runningback besides him (thats not a rookie) is Reuben Droughns, Warrick Dunn, and Chester Taylor...

does it matter? He would still put put the same production if the scoring system was diffrent, if the points were less, evey quarterback in the league would get less points.

I like the Jamal Lewis pick. Granted, he'll never touch 2,000 yards and more than likely more than 1,400, but he's got a QB in the backfield with him now who can actually play the game of football. He will benefit greatly from this.
As far as your WR pick...Johnson is a better option than Evans. Yes, Evans is the number one now in Buffalo, but who's throwing to him? An unproven QB, that won't succeed with Dick Jauron at the helm. Jauron is a run first coach.......
I failed to even pay attention to Vick. I would keep him, just because. If Mora Jr. ever actually opens his eyeballs and realizes that you can't pocket a scrambling QB, Vick will progress in the NFL. If Mora Jr. keeps the reins on Vick, he'll blow worse than ever this year. Lelie won't be the saving grace for the Falcons receiving corps.
All that said, keep Vick and Lewis.

Some scorings award more for TDs, some penalize more for INTs, some count total completions, some give bonuses for 300 yd games, some include completion %, etc. Certain QBs may be a better fit for different scoring systems.

Yeah but those factors affect all QB's, a QB wont be awards 6 points for a TD while the other gets 5. The 300 yard game is the only factor that can chage things.

An example. Some leagues award 4 points per passing TD, while some award 6 for all TDs (including passing). A 4-point league would increase Vick's value since the other QBs do not receive relatively more points than him for more passing TDs (Vick only had 15 last year). Now a QB that throws, say, 7 more TD passes than Vick scores only 28 more points from passing TDs instead of 42 more points. It is obviously easier for Vick to make up the points by rushing in the first scenario, a 4-pt per passing TD league.
The same holds true for how many passing yards gets a point and so forth.

I ended up keeping 3 receivers (Chamebers, Johnson, and Evans), drafted Reggie Bush, Donvan McNabb and Jamal Lewis. Also picked up Deuce McAllister (insurance for Bush) really late and was pretty happy with my team. Thanks guys!
