Jabar Gaffney was not a surprise cut. I was almost certain he was getting the axe when Donte Stallworth was brought in. I was shocked to see the Eagles cut Dernerian McCants. He was looking great. I guess it was done so the team could keep 10 defensive linemen.
As for J.R. Reed, that was a tough position for the Eagles. After Brian Dawkins and Michael Lewis, they were left with a few guys who all had a great shot at the roster. J.R. Reed, Sean Considine, Matt Ware, and Quentin Mikell. Matt Ware I think was the first guy to be cut out of them. He just didn't perform at corner, and was only decent at safety. Quentin Mikell stayed around because he can be a better cornerback than Matt Ware, which gave him an edge. J.R. Reed and Sean Considine was probably the toughest decesion for the team to make in these final cuts. I do think Sean plays a little bit better safety. That is what gave him the edge. They were set on having Reno Mahe and Bruce Perry handling returns. It really sucks to lose J.R. Reed though. I want him to go to have success but I would love to see him on the Eagles practice squad.

Eagles must really like guys like Baskett, McCants, and Avant enough to drop Jabar Gaffney just like that... I heard the Gaffney wasn't learning the plays and wasn't really helping the Eagles that much in that position. That what I heard... I was surprised that Omar Jacobs was released but thats just me... |2uff Yeah, I just hate to see former UF guys get cut. I was also surprised at Pittsburgh cutting Omar Jacobs, then they sign St. Pierre to be a backup with Big Ben injured. Ive always liked him and Josh Harris for some reason, the past two Bowling Green QBs.
