Now that the Pre-Season cuts have been finalized, what do you guys think on this years cuts. There were some easy decisions, some hard decisions, and some suprises.
I knew Lee Suggs was gone when he was traded and shipped back because of a failed physical. That's obvious. I wasn't suprised Charles Rogers was cut. I was't even shocked that Ron Dayne left Denver. Actually, I am more suprised that Willie Ponder was cut as return man for the Giants.
However.... Green Bay cutting ties with Najeh Davenport could prove to be a bad decision. At fullback, Davenport will become a star for whoever picks him up next. Brute strength, speed and hands would make you think to possible keep nthis guy.
Danny Clark is a starting linebacker on any team. He's in the mold of Ronald Mckinnon in the fact that he will grab 150 tackles in a season, but you dont want to build around him. Who does Oakland have? nobody and there going to wish they hadn't cut him.
Finaly... I am thankful Peter Warrick was cut. He's got the ability to be the #2 receiver if given the chance. He had a great year when he was in Cinncinatti right before they released him. It's not that he cant play, he's just been given poor oportunity. I would put my money on somebody paying him to make plays on there team.
Other noteables... Rocky Boiman, Terrance Cooper, Darius Watts, James Davis, Artose Pinner, Randy Hymes, Carlos Hall, Teyo Johnson, Fred Beasly, Tyrone Calico, Zach Hilton, Jay Foreman, Duane starks, Matt Ware, J.R. Reed, Moe Williams and more.
Your thoughts...

I'm pissed that we cut J.R. Reed, not only is he a great return man but he is also an amazing backup. Matt Ware was good but seemed too demanding... so I'm not surprised to see that. BUT WHY J.R.!!! that guy is awesome!

Eagles must really like guys like Baskett, McCants, and Avant enough to drop Jabar Gaffney just like that...

I'm kind of surprised that NO let go of Hilton. At 6'8, he was a huge target for a QB that loves his TE's........

Yea, im really pissed now with my Saints...
First we let go of one of the fastest receivers in the game, and now we let go of Zach Hilton. The kid put up an awesome year last season, not really with stats, but just timely catches.
As mentioned above, he is huge! Brees would have loved him, although he isn't as fast as Gates, he is still huge.
Also, I was shocked with the release of Teyo Johnson!

I was pretty happy with the Ravens cuts this year, although I wish we would have kept Roderick Green who was a solid special teams and backup contributor. I was surprised at Oakland cutting Danny Clark, and was pissed that Philadelphia cut Jabar Gaffney because he's just one of those UF guys.
Alot of these guys cut will be signed eventually and produce though, I like Randy Hymes, Danny Clark, Jabar Gaffney, Zach Hilton, Fred Beasley, Tyrone Calico, and a few other to be contributors on other teams.
I thought for a second Detroit was going to cut Mike Williams instead of Charles Rogers. All of the offseason talk about DET and WR has been how Williams has been careless with his weight and playing half-ass.

The Giants new return guy better score like 4 touchdowns and bring it out to the 35 every time
He has to be that good for them to cut Ponder

I wonder who will be the return man in N.Y. now? Can't be Moss, can it?
I was surprised with the Lions cutting James "Dirty" Davis, we are injury-prone and have little depth at the linebacker position and cut this guy? He is fast and a pretty good special teams and cover guy. Glad to see Artose Pinner and Charles Rogers go.

Is Chad Morton still in New York? They could be relying on him. If not, i'm sure it's Sinorice Moss.

Yeah, im pretty sure Morton is still in New York. If anything Morton can take back kicks while Sinorice takes back punts.

I also did a double take, just cause I always hear Matt Millen talking about how much he loves Davis. Then again, must consider the source. Good riddance to Pinner, I don't know how he ever lasted as long as he did.

Good riddance to Pinner, I don't know how he ever lasted as long as he did. Underacheived the entire time he was in Detroit. I think the Lions should look into adding Danny Clark. Linebacker is scary right now, especially if Lehamn can't go for the start of the year

That would be a real smart move for Detroit. There are a few linebackers that could probably be real good with some teams around right now.

Clarks a beast and I would think thats a major upgrade for Lions with Simms, Clark and Baily. Maybe Ahmad Brooks anyone?

Willie Ponder They never gave him a chance! And yea we still got Morton so there's your return man for kickoffs and punts I'm assuming. Moss needs to get on the field before he gets slated into anything on the depth chart...that's all I have to say about that.

Eagles must really like guys like Baskett, McCants, and Avant enough to drop Jabar Gaffney just like that... I heard the Gaffney wasn't learning the plays and wasn't really helping the Eagles that much in that position. That what I heard... I was surprised that Omar Jacobs was released but thats just me... |2uff
