My take:
This hit will be scrutinized until it can be scrutinized no more. I know this is a league where when you don the pads, you are taking a risk playing the game, but there HAVE to be rules for quarterbacks in and out of the pocket. I actually think the slide rule is a joke. Yeah, you can say he should have slid earlier, but why slide earlier, when you can slide later and get the first down?
Truth is, quarterbacks just aren't built to take that punishment. I don't even know if LJ would have gotten up immediately after taking a hit like that. I place the blame on the offensive line, which is a joke. Never thought I would say that about the Chiefs line, but yeah, it is a mess. I still think Turley will turn out alright, but Jordan Black was just a terribly overrated Notre Dame player out of college, and it shows. He's HORRIBLE. And the play Trent was hurt on was the right side, where Black plays.
I read the ESPN message boards for kicks, and people (i.e., Bengals fans) were saying that he deserves it, running out of the pocket, and getting himself clocked like that? WTF!?!? What else can you do? You get pressure, you get flushed out of the pocket. Green was only doing what the situation allowed. Oh, and then they want to use that to justify that Palmer's injury was worse. What a crock. It's amazing what Palmer has done to come back from his injury, but a head injury is much worse, especially to the degree of what Green had.
If you couldn't tell, I think the hit was blatant. I don't care if Kennison "pushed" him. That is the biggest sack of crap excuse. I understand he feels bad for hitting him, but I think a hefty fine is in order here. </end of rant>

I dont think a hefty fine will be issued but I do beleive in the benefit of all players, use your head and think before you do something. Maybe he didn't mean to do damage to Trent or maybe he did, but if he played intellegently he would have thought to atleast angle himself differently than he did.
It's football.... glad to see Green ok

Say all you want about how it's hard to stop 250 pounds all at once, yada yada yada, I don't buy that. But yes, it is football, and it's unfortunate this happened, but I feel it could have been prevented, or at least not as severe. Much like Palmer's knee last year. And I think all of football is glad he's ok. One of the game's true "iron-men".

Heard the guy who hit him kinda got shoved from behind and couldn't really slow up in time. I only saw the hit and not what happened right before it, but that's what someone on ESPN said.

Geathers was in the air before the alleged shove. Kennison was near the play, but was on the ground.

I meant Geathers in my early statement....
No way does Kennison push Geathers that hard, if so, he should play tight end.
It looks like he trys to hit him, but thats my opinion. All quarterbacks know they are a target. In the Baltimore game, Haloti Ngata intercepted the ball and Samari Rolle tackled Simms practicly. Nobody was hurt, and it was funny.
People would think differently of the play if Green was parylized. That's the sad thing. Either there should be a penalty or not. There should not be an argument. If the extent of the injury is what brings up the discussion of wether or not it was dirty, that's a problem.
Aneas Williams hit Steve Young and everyone thought, what a great hit. It ended Youngs career, and they wanted to suspend him. It's like a glitch in video games, doesnt seem proper.

Geathers was in the air before Green even began his slide, just watch the behind angles... It's no ones fault and it shouldn't be seen any other way. Yea, it could have caused serious damage but just like the guys at ESPN said, at least he didn't go helmet-to-helmet. Anyway, Green's head hitting the turf is more of what caused the damage than the actual hit.

He's on one of my fantasy teams! Boo legitimate tackle resulting in concussion, Hooray letting Green throw eight touchdowns to Eddie Kennison!
