Before I start this rant, let me say I was a Bills fan rooting pretty much for just a good close game, seeing how the Bills are done and I love LT. But if it wasn't bad enough that Phil Sims said the most retarded things I've heard in my life, the refs were absolutely dreadful, and it certainly didn't go both ways.
There were multiple catches that Bills receivers had that were CLEARLY inbounds and/or clear pushes by the defenders before the receiver even caught the ball while in mid-air that were missed by the refs. There was one 3rd down in the 2nd half where a Bills receiver was clearly hit before the ball got to him, which the ref acknowledged, but claimed the ball was tipped, which it wasn't. Even dumbass Phil Sims realized this. On a fumble by someone on the Chargers, a Bills defender clearly landed on the ball, but had it stripped from him nearly 10 seconds afterwards, but because the refs weren't paying attention, missed it completely.
But the worst of it was the onside kick. If any of you saw it, it was questionable that the ball traveled 10 yards or not, I understand that. But while everyone on the ground was fighting for the ball, the refs all huddled up and asked each other if they thought it went 10 yards. Meanwhile, a Bills player has the ball perhaps the whole time during the meeting when suddenly a Chargers player ends up with it. Now the refs make their call. Says the ref, "First Down Buffalo!" pointing to the Chargers defending endzone. But three seconds later, goes back in the huddle of refs, and says "I'm sorry, First Down San Diego"...
I'm sorry for ranting and I normally don't bitch, but anybody that saw that game saw exactly the problem with NFL officials.
