Simms initially declined an offer earlier in the season and I thought that it was cause he wanted to test the FA market to see what he was worth. Now It appears that he was just trying for a sweeter deal. The Bucs initial deal, earlier this year, was two-years and around 6 million, no incentives, or at least none mentioned. Now, with Suckowski being such a flunk, (I was one of the few Bucs fans that never liked Bruce) the Bucs are willing to dish out a little more money so that they can go into next season with Simms and Rattay battling for the starting job. The deal that he inked is two-years 7 million guaranteed, but with incentives and escalator clauses, it could go all the way up to 14.5 million. www.buccaneers.com/news/newsdetail.aspx?newsid=5598www.kffl.com/player/6175/NFLwww.youtube.com/watch?v=CVG6FFWykH4

I've said it before, and I'll say it again:
Chris Simms is awful and should not be starting in the NFL.

For what his situation was, coming in as an undersized, late-round pick, I thought Gradkowski's performance was admirable.

If I remember right Chris Simms lead the Bucs to a playoffs apperence last year, and should of went to the second round if it wasnt for an crap call.

Everyone should know the Buccs should have never made the playof apearance anyways. In Greenbay, the refs called a forward pass on a fumbled ball that Green Bay recoverd for a TD and would have won. They called back a Touchdown in Detroit when Marcus Pollard cought the ball in the endzone, lossing the game for the Lions. They said Alstott had scored the 2pt conversion in Washington, when anyone with eyes could see he was a ball short, getting the Win for Tampa Bay. Twice Atlanta destroyed the Buccs, but missed several field goalds and beat themselves.
If you watched the games that year, the Buccs were a 6-10 or 7-9 team. Not an NFC South Champion. It's time somethings done about Gruden and Allen. They have done nothing but get the buccs to a controversal playoof appearance since the superbowl with Tony Dungys team. Dungy on the other hand, took the buccs when they sucked and only missed the playoffs once in 6 years.
As for Simms.... It shows the Buccaneers dont want to get better, but want there players to get better. That doesn't always work and I can almost assure you they find a way to mess up a good draft position this off-season.

The Galloway/ Simms connection was one of the hottest in the league. Which lead Galloway's best season. Simms lead us to the playoffs with a numerous amount of late game comebacks. And Simm's came one dropped TD pass, put right in the hands of Edel Sheppard, of advancing deeper into the playoffs. And he was in the process of scoring another game winning comeback vs. Carolina before he got injured this season. As with most QB's I feel that if the Bucs could get him a solid line like they've had in the past couple of games that Simms could do very well.

So you didn't read my opening statement that completely voids anything about him leading the buccaneers to the playoffs haha. Let me guess, Tim Ratay should start next year if the buccaneers beat Seattle? haha/
Look at Chris Simms statistics in the begging of the year. You remember how he couldn't hit a player in stride, including galloway in the first 3 games? All I am saying is that the Buccaneers havn't played well in the last few years, includiung there "Amazing year last season", Chris Simms has never played well, and yet the two find eachother in perfect harmony.
You keep telling yourself that what the buccs are doing are good for the team and that they are getting better and lets see where that gets you. I left with Tony Dungy and John Lynch. Thank God. lol.
I know how hard it is to overlook everything being a Buccaneer fan. I still say Bert Emanuel cought that pass and they should have played and beaten Tennessee in the Superbowl haha.

Yeah, you keep tellin yourself that and pray to God that the Bucs never get on a roll again. Cause you know that you'll be just like everyone else jumping around, cheering, and prasing every player who deserves it. Including their starting QB, whoever it is. Even if it's Joe Namath risen back from the grave.

Yeahhh no he won't.
Tampa Bay caught some breaks last year (the Lions beat you....Marcus Pollard caught that damn pass and I will take that to the grave with me).
But you have got to realize how bad Chris Simms is, and how they NEED to find a long-term solution at QB, cause Simms sure as hell ain't it.

well, it's getting really hard not to be a little skeptical of the Bucs, because they really are becoming the south's version of the Detroit Lions
like him or hate him, Gradkowski has won us all our games this year, we were 0-4 under Simms, and last season, we lost 5 of 7 once Griese went down in the 8th game, and then Simms cost us in the playoffs
so, i really hope that Tampa gets a QB in one of the next two drafts, because Chris is not showing signs of improvement

We all know the NFL is an up and down league....I'd give Simms one more year to prove himself at QB. He has show SOME signs of ability...Gradkowski started off nicely but now has regressed. Let those two battle for the job in preseason, sign another guy to compete for the starting spot as well.
The Bucs should try and solidify their line first before drafting some QB with loads of talent who will become a punching bag with nobody to block for him....like Cadillac has become.
If my opinions seem a little unusual, it's because I haven't seen a lot of Bucs games this season, so I haven't seen Simms play extensively, nor Cadillac.

In all honesty, I think that the Bucs should draft Brady Quinn or another QB, because their situation right now is that of pure suckiness.

It's likely that Quinn's gone by the time they pick at #3.
But who else can you pick? Russell and Stanton don't deserve to go that high.

Well, I wouldn't be so sure. The Lions'll probably screw it up and the Raiders have never been big on drafting QBs (hello Matt Leinart).

They like to draft Cornerbacks, Safetys, Kickers and Lineman....
I would hate to see a guy I like in Quinn go to Tampa Bay haha

They like to draft Cornerbacks, Safetys, Kickers and Lineman.... I would hate to see a guy I like in Quinn go to Tampa Bay haha I'd hate it to too. You all are telling me that you don't think that Simms could do enough if Tampa had an actual line. We all know that you don't need a great QB, by far, to win. Just one that does the job. I still think that if Tampa gets a line that can actually block, that Simms can do ENOUGH, not be some superstar, just do enough to be successful in the Bucs offense. Teams have proved that you can win with Brad Johnson and Trent Dilfer. I think that Tampa should draft yet another Tackle in the first round. A left tackle to be exact. Davis has done OK, but not nearly good enough to keep our QBs off the ground. Then you have Davis, Buenning, Mahan, and Wade all battling for the LG and C position. That's maximizing the talent you have. Joseph is doing great a RG for a rookie so keep him their and slowly start to phase Trueblood in as the starter for Walker. They could also fight for the job or split time. Then after all that you would actually have a line that not only could keep your QB safe and create holes for your RB, but you also have a line that has great depth.
