This won't turn into anything if you ask me. Jason Taylor made a statement that might tickle Merriman the wrong way but I doubt that the situation is blown out of proportion. Both players are much more mature than that. Not only that, Merriman will be on his best behavior because of the whole steroid thing and his team is getting prepared for a run to the Super Bowl.

Agreed. Plus, its not like Taylor came out and blasted him. He made a simple, mature and composed statement. He didn't come out and call Merriman a cheater or anything so this shouldn't ammount to much.

I agree with what Jason Taylor said. Accidental or not, you shouldn't be able to play let alone win an award. I can understand mistakes can be made, but how much you want to bet that if they supend players for the whole year how there wont be any more mistakes haha....
I agree with Jason Taylor, it was a good come back by Merriman, but Shawn has a wonderful supporting cast. If he doesn't keep consistent with his lights out profromance for the next few years.... he'll look like an idiot, because Jason Taylor is quite the respected player to say "Have fun watching us in the playoffs".

Champ Bailey should win anyway.
But I don't have anything against Merriman going to the Pro Bowl. He sat out his 4 games (equivalent to a 40 game suspension in baseball), lost pay for them, but still managed to have incredible production.

Taylor is one of the classiest players in the NFL. Merriman is a punk. I don't buy his reasoning at all. Also, his press conference when he announced he was dropping his appeal was ridiculous. Sure, he has been great so far. But if he was on 'roids, which I personally believe, who gives a crap. Many athletes can be great with benefit (as we've seen).

Taylor put it perfectly.... A player who uses drugs, regardless, shouldn't be able to win an award or reach the probowl. That's as simple as it should be. He shouldn't be in the pro-bowl or win an award. I dont care if he had a great year with 12 games, because he used steroids.
When Julius Peppers accidently used steroids, he lost all of his sacks. how come Merriman didn't loose the ones he had before the was found guilty?

It's kind of funny how the NFL constantly says it has the "strictest" penalties for steroid abuse, when the worst that happens is there's a few game suspension. If there's a guy using roids, I don't want to see him the rest of the season, and I certainly don't want to see him getting any cash.
Why is he going to the Pro Bowl? Because he cheated enough to be considered a top player? Taylor is dead on when it comes to this. Steroid problems are huge in high school sports, and if those athletes realize "Hey, even if I get caught, I can still get by if I deny it and nobody cares."

Merriman should win the defensive mvp if he is in fact the best player. If he wins, it'll just show how dumb the NFL's steroid policy is.
I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I think that if sports want to clean up the situation, all they have to do is put down a one and done penalty. Guys will stop using roids, because, for most of the guys, sports is the only thing they can do and they wont want to get their career and their job taken away from them.

When Julius Peppers accidently used steroids, he lost all of his sacks. how come Merriman didn't loose the ones he had before the was found guilty? Where'd you get that from? And he didn't use steroids. It was an inert form of ephedra found in dietary supplements. But I'm really wondering where you came up with him losing all his sacks.
