Does anyone know why Dallas tends to wear their white uniforms at home? I don't watch a lot of pro football, but known enough to know usually white is reserved for the home games.

Just the way it's always been for them. I hate how everyone feels the need to copy now-a-days though, it was a Cowboy thing leave it that way.

I heard once that it was because the blue jerseys were bad luck or something.
LSU does it in college football. I haven't seen their purple jerseys in a long ass time.

LSU wears the purple uniforms, I think, for their last non-conference game of the year at home. I'm almost certain they busted out the purple uniforms for the Tulane game this year. Other than that though, LSU wears the white. Then again, their white uniforms are really nice looking.
I don't like many teams wearing white a home, but hey if Dallas wants to do it, why not?

Because light colors don't absorb as much heat? I don't know...

But how did this tradition get started?

They just kind of happen. Like one year, way back in the day in Mobile, Alabama, some students decide to paint a cannon after their school wins a rivalry game. Guess what, the next year the other school does it after a win. Then it just snowballs.
Same thing here, except they just kind of decided to wear white and it stuck.

Dallas has worn the whites as long as I can remember....including when I was about 4 and would watch Cowboys games on national TV with my family, constantly referring to their QB as Troy Eggman.
Honestly though, I can't tell you where it started, all I remember is they've worn em for as long as I know.

I think Miami does it as well, and possibly Washington. I don't like Dallas' whites, I like their blues much more.

[/b] [3] Since then, two other NFL teams, the Dolphins and the Redskins, have adopted the practice of wearing their white jerseys at home. Throughout the years, it is a popular Cowboys superstition that the blue jerseys have been viewed to be "jinxed" because the Boys' often seem to lose when they wear them.[citation needed] As with NFL rules, the home team picks what color jerseys they want to wear and with most teams wearing their dark jerseys at home, the Cowboys will often be seen in their whites. There have even been some seasons where the team has only worn the dark jerseys once. But on occasions to possibly play on the superstition, opposing teams will purposely wear their white jerseys at home to try and jinx the Cowboys.
The Cowboys have lost the following playoff games when wearing their dark jerseys:
Super Bowl V against the Baltimore Colts The 1980 NFC Championship Game versus the Philadelphia Eagles The 1982 NFC Championship Game against Washington A 1996 Divisional playoff game versus the Carolina Panthers A 2003 Wild Card playoff game against Carolina [/quote]
