I know it's hard to get into the Hall of Fame without a Superbowl Victory, so I am sking "If Dungy wins the Superbowl" is he a Hall of Fame Coach?
I dont think people will accept that, but I am a Football mogul and live in Tampa, so I know first hand about Tony Dungy and would say Yes.
This is a guy who came into Tampa Bay with nearly no talent, no youth and no money. In one season, he turned them into a playoff contender. In 4 seasons, he got their 3 times with a Conference title and competed in the NFC Championship game. He molded alot of the Buccaneers players into the stars they have become, made the Tampa 2 that resurected Monte Kiffins career, and posted 4 #1 defenses. He turned around the Buccaneers team, and in many ways, won the organization a Superbowl.
Then he went into Indianapolis, where it was argued that they had only 3 players, who where all going to fight over money. He turned that situation around, payed everyone(James left for more money). He modified a offense that played a little more balanced than a 40 passes a game offense that they were. He drafted guys like Clark, Freeny, Mathis, June, Brackett, David, Jackson, Sanders, Doss, and many more. Last year they had a Top 5 defense, and have been favored to win the Superbowl several times.
If that doesn't give you enough to think he deserves it, he was the 3rd fastest coach to reach 100 wins. He has made Monte Kiffins career and molded head coaches in the likes of Herman Edwards, Lovie Smith, Ron Merrinelli and Mike Tomlin with Joe Barry becoming the next hot thing.
He's a complete coach who, in a way, has done everything just as good if not better than Mike Holmgreen, who's considerd by most as a genius for sure hall of famer.
I agree he needs a ring, but if he retires after he gets that ring... and I dont know if he will or not.... He has earned a Hall of Fame Induction.
