Utah Jazz Miami Heat Orlando Magic
You know what's funny? Everyone would have a team of superstars as their "perfect squad". I personally believe that stars and their egos are far too great to gel as a working unit.
I'd take the Pistons, for example.

The Spurs starting 5... and maybe replace Rasho with a Jermaine O'Neal..... or if DRob were playing... he was a perfect fit... but a center who can go for 10 pts 10 boards a night and defend inside as well as flashing out....
Take TDunc, Tony, Manu, Bruce and David, and you will be VERY hard pressed to see a team which could work together any better and defend ANYTHING and everything.... as BB said.... a team of 5 superstars is nice in theory, but nothing is worth it if the chemistry is there. I STILL think after 2 championships and contending reasonably for 9 of the last 11 years, SA is still very overlooked and underrespected because of the market. If Buford gets Parker to sign before the preseason is over, the Spurs will contend through 2008, guaranteed. Tim, Tony, Manu and Bruce are such a solid core it's not funny.

I want superstars, but I don't go all out.
C- Ben Wallace He's a great rebounder and blocker. He can get double doubles day in and day out. And he's got a fro.
PF- Kevin Garnett The best there is. Can consistently put up 20-30, 10-15 rebounds, 5-10 assists, and 3-5 blocks.
SF- Ron Artest I picked him mostly for his defense, but he can get 15-20 for me. I'd rather have him hold his player to half of his average points and have him score just 5 than have him score 40 and the guy he's defending to get his average.
SG- Kerry Kittles Just a great perimeter shooter. That's all I wanted.
PG- Tony Parker A great point guard that can take control of the game if he needs too.
Bench 1- Bruce Bowen Another great defenseive player that can pick up a few points too.
Bench 2- Andrei Kirielenko Guy that can play both forward positions. So he can play when KG sits and when Bowen, Kittles, and/or Jefferson gets tired.
Bench 3- Vlade Divac A great tall center that can pass.
Anybody else is fine I guess. Maybe Jason Williams on the bench as well.

I think bsktballr has a point. That's why I would go with players I could rely on to get the job done.
C- Ben Wallance: An Unselfish role player who gets the job done like nobody else.
PF- Jermaine O'neal: Has the ability to become one of the leagues most complete Big Men if he'd be shown some encouragement.
SF- Ron Artest: Ok, So he's another Pacer. Besides the fact that he lost the Pacers the Eastern Championship, He played the other 100+ games, and rather well I might add.
SG- Bruce Bowen: Argued with the NBA Officials on being the best Defensive player, and had a right. Nobody said Defense wins championships in j/ Football u know.
PG- Sam Cassel: The NBA's cover boy for team player of the year. Some people would say Jason Kidd, Labron James, or Allen Iverson to play PG for em, but Sam Cassel is super man.
With that team, I am confident I would beat the shyt out of any team i'd play. With dominant Big Men like Wallace and O'neal and then Artest and Bowen.... That's one hellf of a D. Not 2 mention enough weapons to spread the opposing teams D around and make sumthing happen with the ball.

Oh... it's a Dream Team?
In that case.....
C- Kareem Abdul PF- Wilt SF- The Bird SG- Dr. J himself PG- Magic
I wouldnt go with MJ, because everyone and there mother knows he controlled the team as if each player was his individual bitch.

Not to Spam or anything, but on whatifsports.com, you can actually pick any player who ever played in the NBA, and make your own dream team. You could then see how they'd do against the 2004 Pistons, the 83 Sixers etc.
Also, you could join a league with a salary cap, which makes it more challenging. But it's easy with NBA, because you can still get Bird, Wilt, Kareem, and MJ on the same team.

Also, whatif does a bad job with NBA rosters. Rasheed ain't on the 2004 Pistons.

No. Usually they do end of season rosters....and Rasheed Wallace was a HUGE deal. Without him, the Pistons never win the title. I know they do that for baseball, but for basketball, they don't really do it as often. When this season starts, they should update it. If it isn't done by the end of the season, that's when the big problem occurs. They had a problem that Toni Kukoc (yes Toni Kukoc) wasn't on the right team. They fix it soon enough. Don't worry. And I know Sheed helped gett them to the FInals and was a huge part. I meant that it was no big deal that they left him on the Blazers, unless of course you were doing the 2004 Pistons Verse Whoever.
