Wehn playin real basketball like at a park or at school or even in a league is it good to under estimate ur opponent? I've learned to never under esitmate my opposition. That'll get you beat. If you play in a park or school, just play the game and have fun. I've played against people much better than me and people much worse and it's fun either way. Just play your game and have fun.

I am one of only 8 players on this years basketball team. lol. We have been under estimated, because they wern't good last year, but we are putting up some number this year... Thursday night we lit up the reigning division champs for 74. That's an accomplishment having only 3 reserves.

Why would you underestimate an opponent? That's why good teams lose to bad teams - they think it's gonna be a breeze, but it's not. If anything, OVERestimate your opponent.

This is where the mental aspect of basketball comes in, the side that takes careful, strategic planning to outplay your opponent. I don't consider myself a great basketball player by any means, but looking at the statsheets I record for games, you can see I have a high assist-to-turnover ratio that is very unusual for competition at my level. Going hand in hand with that is assisting in coaching while on the sidelines...it's all in your head.
Basketball is like a game of chess. You have your strategies for all different scenarios - getting out there and reading the defense in setting up your offense, figuring what to do when in the position to score, as well as what to do to prevent the other person from doing so. It's all about keeping a good head on your shoulders and knowing plays...that's all.
The best advice I can offer is to know the personel. Watch them play or warmup and learn how to abuse them. If a guy can't make a lefthanded layup, keep him on that side of the ball, etc.
I so wanna be a coach.

I used to want to be a basketball coach but realized I know more about football and thats what i would like to be or a journalist.
To the kid asking whether or not to underestimate your opponent, why would you? what are the advantages of underestimating them?
