You have the 1st pick in the draft for a fantasy draft, consisting of players from any time period. Who would you pick and why?
I'd have to go with the Big O, out of respect for a man that can average a triple double in the season. I know times have changed, but nobody in today's game can do that.
My second props go to MJ. No guard can ever dominate as much as he can. I hate how he came back to DC, but I still admire him as a player.
So, who would you pick? You're on the clock...

That's a tough one to decipher. If you want my opinion, "Wilt" would wilt in today's game, so would the Big O, because players are so much more physical and dynamically-rounded. Since Jordan did what he did in such a close time period, I have to go with him.

I was thinking of putting Wilt at 3, but Ireally wanted Shaq in there for some reason too, only because he can dominate so much in today's game.
I personally don't think Oscar gets enough respect. He's always overshadowed by Wilt and even Kareem, who never really had an Ultimate Season, just kept playin, kinda like Hank Aaron...

Take Shaq's game and put him in the 60s-70s, I guarantee you no player would EVER compare to him, there's no way. IMHO, he's the most dominant sports figure to ever live, but Jordan had the essentials to lead a team and made the men around him better.

But I agree he'd pwn in the hippies, err 60s. Jordan did make his team better. After a while in his career, he actually had to get his team on fire first, to take the pressure off of him. He'd shoot maybe two or three times in the first quarter, and look to get Scotty or someone hot, lose the pressure, and then get his 40 points in the next 36 minutes...

Russell's a rebounding beast though... Especially if you were aiming towards a team with good guards, if you really had a 30 team draft, I think you could snag this guy in round 3 because he's so overlooked... well maybe round 2... maybe

Didn't Wilt grab 55 rebounds in a game? That's not rebounding dominance?

You can't even compare the time periods...Wilt and Bill basically had trouble against one another, and that was all. Both were dominant because no one could contend with them, simply for the fact that big men with skill were nowhere to be found. 55 rebounds in a game back then, while impressive, is no better than a 25 board performance these days.

Yes, because 25 rebounds is so common..
