Van Exel isn't what he used to be anymore, but Finley hurts.

Oh man. This is a sad day for non-Spurs fans. Well, Boston never really had a shot, so not for me :-)

Odd, I thought being champions gave them the step-up.

Miami has a problem that a lot of people overlook. The team was a few minutes away from the finals. Van Gundy was outcoached and the team lost.

Van Exel was signed solely to bring in Finley.... that's my thought - seriously, Van Exel does nothing for us in the regular season and is there incase something drastic happens to manu/tony in playoff time. He is also in to help a little with Beno...
I also honestly think the Spurs pitch of "do you want to have Bowen guard you or be his teammate" was a huge deal too. No joke...
We were a SOLID team without Finley, scary to think of what can happen with him. If he buys into Pop, it can be awesome. Let's be honest, Miami is a good team, Detroit, Phoenix, etc, but if you want to win, why not come here where our core is signed though the end of the decade. No one can come close to saying that. Buford and Pop are just absolutely amazing.

It is a good signing but I'm not a Finley fan. He's a very good player, but he's never won anything in his career. Maybe being surrounded by TD and company that will change.

Born there maybe....? Shaq was military and spent middle and high school just down the road from me.... my father is/was military, worked with shaqs mom when they were here, we used to go see him play in HS every now and then when my father would take me.... I guess I was 5 maybe - was quite some time ago naturally.... but when you ask him, SA was his home town, longest he stayed anywhere growing up. He always talked a lot of trash about Robinson as a player, but has always had the most respect for him.
