I'm thinking about getting an NBA game, just wanting to know which one. I read the reviews from Gamespot and 2K6 beat 2006 8.6 to 7.7 I think.
I think I'm gonna go with NBA 2K6, for the fact, I really liked it last year, it is cheaper than NBA Live I think, plus I love 24/7 mode and I liked the crib from the NFL series, since I think it's a cool little thing.
But anyway, what are your opinions on both games, which is better?

You want sim? 2k6 all the way. Otherwise, Live.
It's all a matter of personal preference.

I am gonna pick up 2k6 some time this week. I am picking it up only because it's cheaper.

If you want a real Basketball sim, with great graphics, players play like themselves and deep dynasty go for Live all the way. NBA 2k6 is a sorry excuse for a basketball game. bad animations shaq draining threes all night and copying ea on everything in dynasty mode

yeah if your playing HS basketball. the NBA isnt that slow paced. NBA Live is the most realistic Basketball game ever. Players actually move without the ball unlike 2k6. that game is so weak 2k's motto should be "If EA has it in the game, We copy it"

Uh, I must be missing something...what has 2k copied from EA?

ESPN NFL sucks compared to Madden, but I'll take their NBA game over Live right now. I've been playing Live since the Jason Kidd 2003 copy, but I wasn't a fan of last year's... Plus, the next-gen videos of 2k6 look frickin' sweet.

As one of the above posters said, its all a matter of personal preference. You want sim and realistic ball play? 2k6 all the way. If you want just a more lax arcadish feel, Live 06 is your game. Basically I enjoy 2k6 over live because it plays exactly like the real thing, but allows you to have fun at the same time. Live has too much ice skating which gets very annoying after a while. Plus 2k6 has an incredibly deep franchis while Live has made...what...2 or 3 improvements to theres? All of which can be found in 2k6 along with their already deep dynasty mode. I don't know where the shaq shooting 3's theory came from, either, because from what I've seen no such thing nor anything simliar to that has happened. I've been a live fan every year, but this year I'm giving my nudge to 2k6. ..oh yeah...and its cheaper.

What exactly is the next-gen thing? XD God seps, you really need to get out more. Next-gen is only the hottest thing in gaming, with two next-gen systems - the Xbox 360 and PS3 - being released within the next year, along with games with amazing graphics. I can hardly believe you haven't heard about this, considering it's been posted so much here.

I cant say I seem overly impressed with either of these games.Spending $70 on game's when money is hard enough as it is it just wasn't worth it.Im not going to get live if it has to be off the backboard or a perfect shot for it to go in, because I can just cluster to the basket. But I dont want ESPN if the Dynasty mode (Association enless they changed it) is just as pointless as the 2K5 version.

But I dont want ESPN if the Dynasty mode (Association enless they changed it) is just as pointless as the 2K5 version. I can't specify how yet, but it definately has been improved. Last year's wasn't too impressive, with the uncontrollable injuries and wacky transactions and all, but I've heard that it has been improved greatly.

Uh, I must be missing something...what has 2k copied from EA? Freestyle= ISOmotion Off the ball control(intoduced in 03)= Dual Player control Scouting players in dynasty mode then working them out was in live 05= 2k6 introduces it this year.
