There have been some very strong rumors about Pierce going to LAC for Magette and others. Livingston and Wilcox have been mentioned. These rumors have been around all summer, but have picked up a lot of wind recently. Thoughts?

The big problem with Pierce-to-LA is the fact that Maggette makes about half of what Pierce makes. Nonetheless, I think (more like hope) it will happen.

Eh, not really. Apparently him and Doc have a tenuous relationship. Then again, so did T-Mac, which makes me wonder more about Doc than PP. Maggette would probably fit better in the fastbreak offense the C's want to implement. Pierce is a more complete player, while Maggette is more explosive.
I don't really like the direction the C's are headed in to be frank. They are too young, too inexperienced, and have no direction. They need more defense, a true PG, etc.

Well, it's a good move for Boston if they want to invest in the future. And it's also a good move for the Clippers if they want to win now. They'll have a solid team with Elton Brand, Sam Cassell and Paul Pierce.

No Toine in Boston..now getting rid of Pierce...I doubt it happens. Unless the Celtics wanna go 20-62.

Adding MAggette and Wilcox wouldnt hurt the C's really. Maggette is a true beast at half the price. And I think Wilcox could be scary down the road.
If the trade goes they could still be a 40 win team. The Clippers also increase they're teams talent. And if the deal falls I'm thinking, "Looks like an 04-05 Phoenix Suns spurt"

How could the Clips be so good with a point guard who hasn't had a good season in 3 years? Or a center that doesn't play strong? Nash and Amare were the heart of Phoenix last season, and now you're saying the Clippers can repeat that with those 2 positions being their weakest?

Corey Maggette > Paul Pierce.
Magette is still in his prime while Pierce may be past it. He's just not the player he used to be.
Clips need to keep Corey in place.

Let's say the deal goes down like this
Clippers Get: Paul Pierce Celtics Get: Shaun Livingston, Corey Magette and Chris Wilcox
The Clippers Line-up Would Look Like This: C- Kaman PF- Brand SF- Pierce SG- Mobley PG- Cassell
This has the looks of a playoff team

Ainge likes to play mind games. One day he makes a terrible trade to screw the C's, next day he leaves the organization. :-P

Thats what was said about the Suns before the season. If the trade goes down, I wouldnt be surprise to see the Clips make the playoff. Of course they make the playoffs, but Steve Nash went from a great point guard to an elite point guard. Sam Cassell is trying to rebound from going to a great point guard to an okay PG, and so you think he'll become a Steve Nash? The guys has no speed at all, and you expect them to be a team like the Suns, who lived off of the fastbreak. And Chris Kaman is no Amare. Unlike Kaman, Amare has had a decent season, let alone two great ones coming into last year. Anyways, the Clips could probably make the playoffs anyways. Like DB said, Maggette probably is better than Pierce at this point, offensively and defensively, and has a height advantage so he can play the bigger SFs in the West, as Pierce would be forced to play the 3 or have Mobley come off the bench. Clippers Now> Clippers Possible Future

Steve Nash in the begging of the season was looked upon as a dying PG. That's the reason Cuban didn't resign. Cassell has the same look. Now while a rejuvenation is unlikely. If it happens, watch out.
