When I first read this I was thinking Darko for Franchise? No way. But now I see that is not the case, meh won't affect either team to bad.

I think that Darko will be the most benefited if this trade goes through. He doesn't see much playing time, and who would when you have the entire all-star team as your teammates, and if he goes to the Magic, he will see a lot more playing time.
The only thing is that the Magic might or will have to give up a lottery pick, which isn't good considering that no one knows if Darko is capable of becoming big. Personally, I wouldn't make the trade, but if I were Darko, I'd be crossing my fingers, hoping to go to Orlando.

Time for my expanded analysis. This makes no sense to me. Joe has clearly given up on Darko, but Cato would be waived if acquired and what do we possibly need a lottery pick for? It'd likely be top ten, but still, it's not like the Pistons have any needs...unless making this trade is a sign that the Pistons don't know if they can lock up Ben Wallace, whose contract is up after this year. Even so, I'd rather have Darko than anyone the Pistons might draft...

I think they shouldnt worry about Darko and his complaining for playing time When McDyess is out of there or retires or whatever (or even further away, Wallace/Wallace like you said), then Dumars wont have to worry about gettin another guy to fill the post. He still has the potential to be good if he gets playing time, and he doesnt deserve any right now caus he is young and is an underdeveloped European player, he just needs time and a patient GM/Coach

Meh, not that big of a deal for me. Hopefully the trade works out for both teams.

I like the deal. But if Darko Milicic starts breaking out and becoming a 15 and 8 guy, I'd be doing some head banging if I was Joe Dumars. But Dumars is a smart GM and he probably did make the right choice anyways.

Darko needed a change in scenery. He may very well go for 15 and 8 in Orlando, but I won't be pissed. This trade gives us the cap room to resign Ben Wallace and gives Darko a chance to get a new start somewhere else, because he was clearly not gonna work in Detroit. Win-win.
Yes, I've changed my tune a little.

They had a little graphic on ESPN this morning that had the career scoring averages of the top five picks of the '03 draft...everyone but Darko and Bosh had fewer than 20 ppg...Darko had 1.6 I think, and Bosh's was around 17. But the one thing that Darko has that the others don't is a ring.
I think LeBron's is 22 something, Carmelo, and I forget who the other one was, they had around the same scoring average.
Found that kinda interesting.

Found that kinda interesting. Ya, I saw that too. It was kinda funny, that he had the lowest amount of ppg for his career by a GREAT margin between him and Bosh. But he is the only one with what all NBA players play for, the ring.

This trade should be a great thing for Drako, he didn't get any playing time in Detroit due to the superstars on that team. I don't think that Drako is a bad player, I think that he was in a bad situation, where he got in fights with Larry Brown, and didn't get on the floor much. With Orlando he will see some mintues, and IMO will do pretty decent.

Darko's only 20 years old. He's got another 10+ years in the league if he can put up 15-8...hell, maybe even 10-8. Get him someplace where the coach will actually coach him, and he'll eventually evolve into a decent player. Maybe he could see a trip to the NBDL or something?

Darko isn't NBDL eligible. If he was, the Pistons would have sent him there a long time ago.

Then I'm surprised Larry Brown didn't try to leave him behind on a road trip to Salt Lake City or some remote location. I could see him realizing Darko was still in the team hotel with the rest of the team on the bus, and telling the driver to gun it out of town before Darko knew what was going on.
At least now there's the potential comedy of seeing a 7 foot Serbian walking around Disney World with the Mickey Mouse hat on saying "I'm going to Disney World!" in broken English.
