It's a smart move if you think about it. Kobe's #1 in jersey sales ... new number means new jersey ... huge profits for jersey companies.

I honestly don't know where everyone is getting this "one-upping" thing. Plenty of players wear 24, or other numbers in the league. Is Paul Pierce trying to one up Larry Legend by wearing 34? Doubt it. The reason it is so newsworthy is because people/media make it so by trying to find reasons for a change. I'm not saying I like the guy, but people sure do love to hate him. |
