I remember back before the season, the Nets were suspose to be one of the best in the East. So far that is working out well.

I'm rooting for the Knicks... I hope they win the division with 35 wins too... New Jersey in a close second with 29 with Philly bringing up the rear with 9...

i knew they were bad in the past, but they would usually have a division leader close to over .500. But this year they leader is 4 games under .500 and the seasons just 2 months old.

do the division leaders get the automatic 1,2,3 spots for playoffs. If so then TO could be looking at being 3rd in the east and then getting swept by some crappy 6th seed.

No, they changed it this year.
The three division winners in each conference, along with the five best non-division winners in each conference, qualify for the playoffs. The division winners and top second-place team are seeded first through fourth based on record, with the remaining teams seeded fifth through eighth on record.

Up until a week or so ago, the whole Eastern Conference, minus about three teams or so, sucked. All the sudden though the Central Division got hot, and now the Southeast is almost average. But the Atlantic is still sucking it up...

If the playoff system worked where the top eight teams in general made the playoffs (meaning the division didn't clinch you a 1-3 spot), the Raptors would be the only team in, as an 8th seed.
Toronto would be 4th in the Central division, 4th in the Southeast, 4th in the Northwest, 4th in the Southwest, and 5th in the Pacific.
