I know I will find little sympathy here, but as a Celtics fan who is only 21 years. I have lived through little of the glory days (although I was 1 when they last one the NBA Championship). I've lived through M.L. Carr, Pitino, etc. Tonight, I think I can honestly declare the Celtics have hit rock bottom. Blowing an 18 point lead to the Hawks at home.
I know this team is riddled by injuries, but it saddens me to watch one of the proudest and greatest franchises in not only the NBA but sports shrivel into nothingness.
People talk about the "kids" developing, and they are getting useful time. But even when Big Al puts up a 25-15 game, or Gomes goes for 30, the team still loses by 10.
It was bad enough to see Red go before the season, but given the way this team is playing, I am glad he doesn't have to see it.

hey, u said it best- this team is made up of "kids."
they are a very young group that lacks veteran leadership with paul pierce and Wally out with injuries. Al Jefferson and Gerald green are a few years removed from high scool, delonte west is trying to be a key player, and Allan Ray and Rajon Rondo are trying too hard to prove themselves. I dont even know what happened to Telfair.
Danny Ainge is building the team for the future so it is right for them to struggle right now. Soon they and the Bobcats (another young and upcoming team) will be contenders. It's all about patience.

I'm going to echo some of Blaze's sentiments. I'm not a big NBA guy, but I'm a casual fan of a few East teams, including Boston. I think the Celts will be fine in two or three years, if not sooner. I think in any sport, you should build from the bottom up. That appears to be what Ainge is doing.

See, that's the thing. He's not. We're only this terrible because Pierce is out (and Wally to an extent). With Pierce, we're a 30 win team. Which, is good for the lottery but not a great pick. Sure, you'll strike gold with number 10 every once and a while, but for the most part, franchise guys are in the top 3 (I know there are examples, they don't need to be cited). When is the last time a big time free agent came to Boston? When is the last time they had money to spend on one?
I understand it is about patience. But, there is a difference to being a bad team and mailing it in. When you are up 18 on another poor team, you win. You don't just mail it in and take 3's the rest of the game (which is what they did).
I'm not asking for a team that is going to win 50-60 games a year, I'm asking for one that doesn't stand around on defense, one that hustles, one that tries. If they do that and lose, so be it. And I know their young, and some things they still need to learn, but I learned in 2nd grade to stay (or atleast try) in front of your man. These guys aren't scrubs who don't deserve to be in the NBA because of talent levels. With some exceptions, I question their ethic, heart, as well as how they are coached.

16. But the whole game has this feeling of a cat toying with a mouse.

Hmm. We do that way too much. Michigan/Ohio State is much more entertaining.

Ugh. I am just calming down after yet another loss. Of all people to kill our hopes it has to be Ricky Davis and Mark Blount. I can't even describe in words how much I hate Mark Blount.

Just out of curiosity, is it a definite that Oden is coming out this year? It would certainly suck for the Celtics if he didn't, and/or Durant didn't if they didn't get 1st overall.

no one is sure wheter or not oden ro Durant will come out.
personally, i think Durant will come out while Oden Stays. He's a critical piece to Ohio State and I think one more year will make him a much better player and will help the buckeyes win the NCAA title.

I think Durant's a lock to come out. I could be wrong, but he's a man amongst boys in college hoops.
Oden, however, I think will stay one, maybe two more years.
Durant or Oden would help your team immensely IMO.

Abrams? You're kidding. So they're both in the same boat as to they're critical to their teams. Buckeyes are just better off as a whole. Probably a bad example there.

Don't make a habit of winning. You'll blow your shot at Durant.

No one knows the joy I am feeling right now! I kinda do, considering I watched some of the game. Pierce back to normal and the Celts win...

Don't make a habit of winning. You'll blow your shot at Durant. I don't even care right now. My head is so clear. Everything in the world is beginning to make sense again. There's snow on the ground and C's won a basketball game. Boston is returning to normal.
