The last version of Live that I bought and still play is 2005. That's when they incorporated the slam dunk contest.

So from the looks of this thread, it looks like im going to be buying 2K8. I just hope they make the 24/7 mode a little better. They could really turn that into a great feature.
I do like Live's graphics though. They look simply amazing on an HDTV which I plan on buying in the next few weeks.

I'm getting 2K also, but not right away. Maybe if the NBA decided not to suck, I'd buy it launch. I pre-ordered, but just because we have Garnett now.

Live looks like it may be on to something, but I don't know. The details were fine, the gameplay was crap. I don't know if having the FIBA tourney is going to bring them back.

well the demo is out for Live on the 360. I havent played it yet since I dont have Live right now.
What I've seen on message boards though, this game plays better than the last 2 Live versions.

I'm still going to rent them both that first week and see how I feel before I drop 60 bucks on either one.
Actually, Sony finally has a DEMO out on time, so I'm going to download it tonight and play a little bit fo rmyself and maybe that'll help settle down my decison.
Note - I will admit, I did watch a new NBA LIVE video and iit looks better than it has in the past. The quick strike ball handling is where its at. And the players don't seem to slide around as much as in the past.

Don't get your hopes up.....it looks "better" every year, but it usually isn't as good as it looks.
Just a word of warning.

I haven't played it since 05.
Now, I have looked at some 2k8 trailers and it doesn't seem to look (graphically) as good as live does. But they do have this thing called the "reel maker" that I am very excited about because I did want to do a multimedia page for my Hawks and I think being able to create my own highlight reel after some games would make my site really cool.

Yeah, 2K8 has had the real maker thing for a while....even in college hoops.
Both Live and 2K have their goods and bads. Live's graphics are better than 2K's but 2K has dominated in the gameplay department.
I also think Live has a better presentation than 2K. I've been a live fanboy for awhile but I do want to see if EA reduces the dunkfest and speedy pace.

I also think Live has a better presentation than 2K. Presentation has always been one of 2K's strongest points....

The gameplay is what turned me on to 2K7. I didn't play either 2006 versions. 2k7 was my first game and I loved it, but now Live is straightening osme things out with 08, so I don't which direction I want o go yet. I think I may have to stick with orignal plan of renting both and seeing what happens

the video for live looks good, when I see something from 2k...either way it's 60 bucks, so 2k doesn't have that on it's side...2k7 was only ok IMO, but 07 was horrific, 08 looks good, but you won't really know unless you play it

That's what I'm thinking. Live sucked so bad, that 2k was awesome. But I think that Live 08 has really done it this year.

I still think I'm getting Live, the 2k demo did not impress me. The graphics are just not good. The gameplay is still a little better, but not so much where it's killing me, ya know?
Only downside is, you can not import draft classes from March Madness, this could be not so good. Especially for the franchise reports. Although its really only good for like 4-5 seasons cuz after that, al the real college athletes have graduated.

trust me- one season is loooooooooooooonnnnnggggggg. No matter how many games you play. Draft classes have rarely been used on DC anyways. It's a grind and if you plan on doing multiple dynasties you'll have your hands full.
I just dont think you should use most of your time on dynasties unless you are having fun doing so. B-ball dynasties are hard to complete and begin multiple seasons.
