While the "curse of the bambino" may be broken, the curse of Len Bias lives on in Boston

Yahoo had a good article this morning about Portland already thinking of how to get Oden and Conley in the rose city by packaging Jack and Randolph to move up in the draft.

Same idea. A guy who no one thought could be a bust, busted. If you want to be general they are both athletes so we can compare them.

The top few picks in the NBA that are drafted on production in college and not potential from high school, hardly ever bust.
The NFL is different.

Dwight Howard, LeBron James, Yao Ming...
Those were the last 3 #1 overalls in the draft (obviously excluding '05 and '06, as there hasn't been enough time to judge them... there's only been one bust since 1998, and even that was for a guy who didn't even play college ball. The last #1 overall bust that came from a somewhat credible college team was Joe Smith back in '95...
It's obvious he'll be a double digit rebuonder early in his career, as he's just so big and will be able to get in position even against NBA big men. The only thing he can really "bust" on is if he only averages 12-15 points per game at his peak or if he can never avoid foul trouble. Everything else is a given with the way he plays...
