Ok you know how I was picked to shoot freethrows at the Wizards preseason game?
Well, last nite me and a friend were picked to sit 6 rows away from the court after buying tickets for the nosebleed seats.
Basically, I wasn't planning on going to the game but was like 'I need to get my mind off school and a possible suspension' so I decided to earlier that morning. Once I made the choice, a friend of mine also wanted to go although he's been to one wizards game in his life. I couldn't get tickets online and the closest ticketmaster near George Mason didn't sell tickets in pairs so I told my friend "we need to go to DC ASAP."
We ride the metro and get to the Verizon Center at 4. For some reason- the box office wasnt opened so I was like "lets try the ticket scalpers." So we walked around looking for some scalpers and we passed two black guys who were asking us if we had tickets. We just walked past them because we though they were beggers but then the guy said "hey, do you want some tickets."
I stopped, looked at my friend, and was like "we need to do this." So I looked at the price, examined the tickets closely, and purchased them ($48 a piece).
Luckily those tickets weren't fake and got us in. So once we got to our nosebleed seats, 21 minutes before tipoff, there was a contest on the video board that was looking for some loud people in the third section of the arena. Whoever was the loudest would be given new and better seats.
The next thing I know, me and my friend were on the video screen and we started cheering our asses off and doin goofy shit pretty much. At first, it showed us from a distance but then it zoomed in and the arena DJ person was like "here are your winners! Please stay in your seats as we prepare to move you to your new seats!"
Luckily, the arena was not filled up all the way (the game soldout though) and there was no competition in our section except for two drunk guys.
In the middle of the first quarter, we were escorted to our seats and one of the escorts was the same person who picked me to shoot freethrows at the preseason game. He was really surprised and kept claiming how much luckier could I get. I was laughing the whole time because I found the whole thing bizzare but me and my friend didn't care....it was a relief to get out of the nosebleed area.
So we get seats in a section called "Gil's City" which is the Gilbert Arenas cheering section located near the Orlando Magic bench. It was awesome and we were sooooo close to the action that I can read the player's faces and get a first hand look at Dwight Howard's massive frame.
But the Wizards lost and Gilbert Arenas was shutdown. Now we're 0-3.
