I didn't think EA made much of a difference in this field, but after playing a series in Colorado, I think there is.
I entered the series with 4 overall team homeruns, HORRIBLE for 31 games in. I left with 7. Granted, it was just three, but when you only have 4 homeruns going into a series, and nearly double it, it's impressive.
None were really bombs, but line drives that made it over the fence. Raul Mondesi had two in the series..making his overall 2.
Just saying, Coors Field seems to be really realistic as far as that goes, and it's pretty cool.

Yes.....the ball will stay in flight MUCH longer than anywhere, it gets quite old after a while....but it is realistic, so that is all I can ask for.

maybe I need to play my home games for the Springfield Cardinals in Coors field then. I play three or four games a night and am thrilled to get one HR in four games. Last night I got two in four games, so I was pretty pumped. I have one guy with 4 and several with just one. I have started hitting the ball a lot harder though for some reason and have several go to the warning track or off the wall. I almost had 4 or 5 last night, so it is getting better. I have turned my power hitting slider for both me and the CPU up to 27. I also had to up the contact ability of the CPU because they were striking out like crazy and couldn't mount any offense.

I've found...and maybe this is just me making it up, but it seems that if I work the count and get ahead of the pitcher, the hit is more likely to be a homerun. It also seems like the less you try to swing for the fences, the more homeruns you will hit. I average between one and two homeruns per game, and oddly enough, most are with guys at the bottom of the lineup. I say this is odd because traditionaly, the big hitters are in the 3-5 spots. Those are the guys I'm swinging for the fences with. The bottom of the lineup are the guys that I'm just trying to get on base with, but many of them have already had multihomer games for me.

i know the working the count thing is part of my problem, because I am working on working the count a litte more. I was swinging at the first pitch almost every time. I have also found that I hit a lot more HR's off of high sliders or curveballs, than fastballs or changeups.

If y ou are trying to pull the ball, then push the cursor up and inside as you are swinging. If you are tryign to go opposite field, up and outside. It seems to work at times...it's what I call swinging for the fences ;D

ahhh I see, sorry I was confused. I only try and hit fly balls when I need a sac fly, but did hit a HR last week while trying to do that, so you are probably right that is does help sometimes.

Another night and another 4 games without a HR. Hit two to the warning track, and the announcer got me all excited, but of course they fell short.

Remember, these guys mostly don't have the power to hit homeruns. They're in AA for a reason. The only guys I've ever seen hit HR's prolifically in AA were Troy Glaus while with Midland, Adrian Beltre with San Antonio and Lance Berkman with Round Rock. Also, check the wind (which they have duplicated really well). The AA park in San Antonio simply does not give up many HR's because of a stiff wind in all the time.

I play in AA Stadium One for my home games, because it looks like Hammon's Field here in Springfield Missouri. I don't know which AA stadium this one was modeled after. I haven't checked the wind, but I will give it a look. AA players hit HR's too, it is all relative to the level of competition. As a level of comparison...my team has a total of about 14 HR's and the Springfield Cardinals currently have 25 and I am three games beyond them in the schedule.

Yeah, i get what you're saying. My whole point is if these guys are hitting HR's prolifically, they get called up. So just HR's in general at the lower levels just aren't seen AS often.
Also, I notice when I play (only in the majors though), my teams go through streaks like someone before mentioned. I'll hit 7-8 HR's in a few games, then hit one in the next three. Oddly enough, it's usually not for the span of a series, it usually covers the back of one series and the front of another.
Just keep playing around with it, but if you look at your players, I'm willing to bet most of your players power is below 50 or 60 (I feel the power almost NEEDS to be above 60 to hit any out semi-regularly).

I see what you are saying as well, but if you read any of my posts two weeks ago I wasn't hitting them with St. Louis either and I had Pujols, Rolen, Edmonds, and Sanders. And between them I only had 4 HR's in 20 games.

Tonight was a good night for the power hitting numbers. I played six games I believe, and had some impressive displays of power. For each team in the 8 team Texas League I have chosen a stadium based on various minor reasons. Midland was the last team that I placed in a stadium and they got stuck in the Spring Training 2 (I think it is two), but it has a short porch on both sides of the outfield...less than 300 in both corners and only 367 to the deepest part. Well needless to say I got four home runs in that four game series.
Then in AAA Stadium One, the appointed home for the San Antonio Missions, where the dimensions are normal but the wall is very tall, I didn't expect to hit more than one in the whole series. Through the first two games I was right, but in the third game my team exploded for two bombs in one game.
In the small spring training stadium I just used normal swings, because I figured that is all I would need, and had four home runs that were 350+, but nothing over 400. In the Missions home park I got mad after swinging and missing on a hit and run and having my base stealer cut down. with the next hitter I decided to hit a swing for a fly ball and the pitcher hung a high breaking ball that I destroyed. And then for my second home run, I was just trying to hit one in the air with runners at the corners for a sac fly, but again the same pitcher hung a high one right over the middle of the plate and my batter clobbered it over the center field wall for a 430 foot blast.
All in all it was a good night, even though in the small stadium I gave up a lot of jacks as well, losing one game 8-1 with every run in the game being off a home run.
