Just thought it would be useful to start a thread about some good trades you guys have made (of course with fair trades on). I've only made one so far I was Oakland. Oakland Gets: 1B Ryan Howard (Top 100 Prospect) Oakland Gives: RP Keiichi Yabu (36 yr old - updated rosters) Now, I'm trying to pry Wily Mo Pena (sorry Nafsder) from the Reds. He is not even starting and would be a great addition to my outfield. I cannot get them to give him up though, any advice?

That doesn't seem fair, but knowing Philadelphia, they'd do it.

Well, they have Thome, and Yabu is rated higher. Also, in real life, Howard wants a trade.

Argh, I need help getting Wily Mo, or a similar player. I offered Cincinnati 3 Top 100 prospects, and still no dice. Pena has 1 AB in 15 games!
What other players are there that are similar to WMP? Decent speed, average fielding, solid power.

I traded Randy Wolf for Kevin Brown and a AAA batting prospect. I was really looking for immediate pitching help and I had some cap room. Good, Bad?

Not sure how old Wolf is, and Brown is probably better in the game than real life. Plus, you got a prospect. Good trade in my opinion.

In one of my dynasties I gave the Pirates Kerry Wood for Oliver Perez. Silly Pittsburgh. There might've been a prospect or other minor leaguers involved, too.

If I'm the Phillies, do you think it's fair of me to trade Thome for an ace? I'm getting the game soon, and gonna play as the Phils. I want to start Ryan Howard, but I know Thome is the main man (along with Abreu) and has a fat contract.

Depends on the pitcher. While Thome is a 40 HR guy, he plays 1B/DH (if he went to AL maybe), and that's a power position. There are a lot of guys who can give a team 25-30 HRs from that position. Not as many who are stud aces. Thome's also getting up there in age. Maybe through in an average prospect.

Ryan Howard progresses quickly...the only problem is he is a little older than most minor leaguers when you want to bring him up. He was 27 when I broght him up and didn't hit his prime yet.

Well, with Oakland, Scott Hatteberg has only one year left as a full-time player, so I will work him in more and more as the first season progresses.

Well, they have Thome, and Yabu is rated higher. Also, in real life, Howard wants a trade. Actually that isn't confirmed that Howard wants a trade, and Philly definitely isn't in a rush to trade him. They turned down a hell of a lot of offers last season, and their looking to use him a lot to DH in these interleague games cause right now in AAA he's tearing it up big. And with Thome facing injuries woes, he may see even more time.

If you're St. Louis its good. Byrnes and Swisher are younger. I've had a lot of success with Calero.

yea im st.louis i also tried to do a very realistic one, b/c like a month ago they were talking about trading Sanders to Oakland for Byrnes and prospect so i tried to make it close but so far no trade but theirs still hope....i did do this one in my dynasty and i just didnt want to get things saying horrible trade and unrealistic, plus Calero was in STL last year so i know what i can get out of him
