All of the people I am talking to do not think that this was a good pickup for the Yankees. I think it was the best thing they could do in their sitation. Was just wondering what other people thought. Sorry if this was already posted.

well it does give them an experienced pitcher, something they need now, cuz all their other pitchers, except for Randy Johnson, aren't doing too good, and A-rod, Sheffield, and Jeter can't carry that team the next 3 months, so i think Leiter's a good temporary solution, but i wouldn't count on him for the next 2 or 3 years

Yeah, I agree with the 2-3 years thing. But for this year, I think it will be great for the Yankees.

It's pretty sad that you actually have to say Shef, A Rod, and Jeter can't carry a team. I mean, if they were in the NL, asides from the Cards, that should be the most dominant team in that league, but three of the Top 30 players (probably better) can't carry an offense, let alone a team. I'm a die hard Yankees fan, but I almost hope the Blue Jays take this division. They're only 5.5 out, although there's 3 great teams in front of them.

You can't be a Yankees fan, saying the Blue Jays should win it.

Well, okay I'm not diehard by any means, but from the way things are going with the Yanks, I don't even think they deserve it. And if the Yanks don't win it, I'd probably hang myself if those stupid red sox won or even the O's. Plus it would be pretty funny to see these 3 teams battling it out and all the sudden the Blue Jays go hot and beat them.

it would be a good pickup except for the marlins he was terrible, and one game doesnt necessarily mean hes a star for the rest of the season

it would be a good pickup except for the marlins he was terrible, and one game doesnt necessarily mean hes a star for the rest of the season Those are pretty much my thoughts. Watching Cold Pizza with Woody and Skip going on and on about how Al Leiter is the savior of the Yankees at this point, seemingly thinking that he'll be just as good as he was in his first game as a Yankee. I personally think it was a fluke and he was pitching on pure adrenaline, but I guess when the Yankees are running guys out there like Darrell May, Tim Redding, and Ryan Franklin, it's understandable how they get so worked up over one Leiter start. Not to make excuses, but I don't think the Red Sox have seen Leiter all year, meaning they didn't know how he was going to throw. Once Leiter gets into his second and third starts and beyond, teams will figure out his stuff and he'll start getting shelled like every other Yankee pitcher. Besides, the Yankees have like the hardest schedule of any of the 3 or 4 teams in the AL East race. With that said, I hope neither the Red Sox or Yankees make it into the playoffs. If that happens, then the Eastern Sports Programming Network will have no idea what to do if neither of their lovechildren make the playoffs.
