Jeremy Hermida just got called up by the Marlins earlier today and just hit a grand slam in his first major league at-bat...the first player to do so since 1898 (not a typo..that's 107 years). St. Louis was winning 10-0, but it's still a freaking amazing accomplishment. It wasn't a cheap grand slam, either...screamer to the bleachers at Dolphins Stadium, which is a hard stadium to hit a home run in.

Ive been waiting for him to called up for like a year now
BTW that Cabrera guy hit a homer his first atbat too

But it wasn't a grand slam.  Bobby Bonds hit a grand slam in his first game in the majors, but it wasn't his first at bat. Hermida hit the third pitch he saw out, too, which is also impressive. |

Anyone remember when Kaz Matsui hit a homer off of the first pitch he saw in the major leagues?
