Jeremy Hermida just got called up by the Marlins earlier today and just hit a grand slam in his first major league at-bat...the first player to do so since 1898 (not a typo..that's 107 years). St. Louis was winning 10-0, but it's still a freaking amazing accomplishment. It wasn't a cheap grand slam, either...screamer to the bleachers at Dolphins Stadium, which is a hard stadium to hit a home run in.

It's always exciting to see a guy do something like this. Congrats, Jeremy.

But it wasn't a grand slam. Bobby Bonds hit a grand slam in his first game in the majors, but it wasn't his first at bat. Hermida hit the third pitch he saw out, too, which is also impressive.

Anyone remember when Kaz Matsui hit a homer off of the first pitch he saw in the major leagues?
